One of the things I've been meaning to do for a while as a picture series, is "Cartoons Reborn".As you can probably tell from the concept name, it's my take on updating the cartoons of yesteryear. I figure nothing will ultimately come from it, but hey, I can't do worse than Loonatics.
The first one that sprung to mind was Hong Kong Phooey, the quicker than the human eye fan-riffic dog that fought crime. I'd redo it to be a little like a Jet Li movie done in film noir style, like Batman: TAS.
Fu-E would be an immigrant janitor that worked at a police station by day, and was a vigilante by night. Fighting crime with his special technique, the "Heavenly Wolf Star Fist".
Note: I can't read Chinese to save my life, so I really just best guessed the translated name.

I like it. He's tough enough to be a REAL superhero for a change instead of a bumbling one, but still mantains his cute, puppy-ness.

Hong Kong Phooey is awesome, I wish they would just randomly bring back the old episodes and put them on Adult Swim, like they did with Popeye once. Or, just take his likeness, and make a totally new show out of it like Harvey Birdman.
Ether way, it would rock. I remember there was a spiffy flash animation on the net depicting a more serious badass Phooey, and he even knew the Shoryuken! Actually, I think your rendation of Phooey is a little similiar to this one. I'd show ya if I had the link. >_>

That is just sweet, I always loved Hong Kong Phooey (number one super guy). It's a great redesign, that keeps enough of the original elements to still make him recognizable. Well done! I seem to remember some one doing a flash of an updated HKP that had him looking like a ripped Ryu-esque version of himself, intresting if not odd. And who ever though Loonatics was a good idea needs to be hurt, for the rest of eternity.
