Description
Nnng, I don't like how this came out so much...It takes a bit of explaining...So, this a sequel of sorts to "You have the worst accent..." (even though in real life this happened before the Russian lesson...)
This is based on a time when I went with my friend to a Russian store to get some ice cream. At the checkout counter, I looked over and saw an ad for "David's Phone Cards" and, as is my wont, I was like "OMG. I BET SINCE I KNOW CRYLLIC I COULD TOTES TRANSLATE THAT LOLOLOLOL." I suck at translating in my head so I said it aloud, but I said "kartoshka" (potato) instead of "kartochka" (card), confusing not only my friend but everyone in the checkout line. So a bunch of Russian people gathered around all, "Wtf, what is your friend trying to say," until I pointed out the ad and my friend corrected me. It was kind of mortifying. I thought it would make a good comic.
The words they think US is saying are "potato" (kartoshka), "coil" (katushka), "map" (karta), "pot" (korshka) and "car...scale is" (kar...shka).
Note: I used Google Translate for these. They are most likely wrong/stupid. I'll check in with my Russian friend at a later date...maybe.
For anyone who's wondering when the Hetalia fan artz will stop and I'll start doing original art again, I promise you it's...soon. I have three or four more comics I want to do, as well as some art for various groups I've joined, but I may very well overdose on APH after I get the DVD in mail (DAMMIT US POSTAL SERVICE HURRY UP) and decide to something originally. For now, I'm just trying to get comfortable with Gimp and my tablet.

Second to last panel, America's pointing at the ad. :/
[editthesecond]
The arrow sign with the red lettering reads "door".
I think.
Again, Google Translate. It could mean slaughterhouse for all I know.
WHICH YOU CAN'T SPELL WITHOUT LAUGHTERHOUSE.
BECAUSE THAT JOKE HASN'T BEEN BEATEN TO DEATH, AMIRITE?

Yeah, I just mispronounced it. (I usually mess up ts and ch a lot.)
Thank you very much. Russian is such a great language!

LOL, poor America... xD
Russian ain't so difficult... when you'e Slavic. xD Alot of things are similar... But even though I'm Polish I still suck at it, because many words and letters look alike, but they mean totally different things, example:
"kawior"= polish meaning-"caviar"; russian meaning-"carpet"
"niedziela"= polish meaning- "Sunday"; russian meaning- "week" etc. xD

That happens with Romance languages too. I'm learning French and sometimes I'll come across faux amis, false cognates, which get really confusing.

It's even worse with "ts" and "ch"! The characters look so similiar. (And don't even get me started on "sh" and "shch"...)
By the way, your signature is amazing.

Russian is a great language but it's really hard! If you have the opportunity, you should totally take it! (This is actually a really helpful site: [link] )

Ach; I don't think Russian comes as a class anywhere in America. It's truly unfortunate. We have Chinese, French, Spanish, Latin and Greek of all things, but no Russian.
