Again, great work on details, expression and mood. To me, it could be a Gramps looking after his grandchild and seeing into his / her future.
Two things startle me. First, it's the direction of the eyes. While his left eye seems to look down and a hint to the left, the right seems to look up and straight. Second, it's the cap. I don't know what material it should be, but it looks either very, very knotty or metallic. I think the effect comes from the - in comparison to the beard - somehow more "dotty", "rough" painting style. If the cap should be knitted or furry, I think it would be better to refine the strokes.
