Description

I drew this during my class last term. It was a sudden thought that struck me: was Gothel really going to keep Rapunzel up in that tower for the rest of her life? She would (obviously) age, while Gothel remained forever young because of her adopted daughter's magical hair. Then I wondered what the hell would happen if Rapunzel died? Would Gothel keep her corpse in the tower and still sing to her hair? Would the powers even work if Rapunzel was dead?
Seriously did Gothel even plan that far ahead?

maybe since it can keep gothel young forever, it could do the same on rapunzel

I think, considering the flower is the reason she is alive in the first place, the flower doesn't keep you from aging, rather, it keeps you in top physical health, or restores life. A human being is at their top physical condition between their mid 20s and early 40s, hence why Grothel was restored to around that age. Seeing as the magic is inside Rapunzel (her tears can cure death) the song would restore her, as well as whoever her hair was touching. Therefore, whenever her hair was used, it would also restore life into her, so she too would stay young.

I take this kind of thing way too seriously.

lol I'm glad that there are people out there that do take this seriously! Because these are the things that have to be answered!

You know, I watched Tangled the other day, and was wondering how that would work exactly. My theory is this: the flower that Rapunzel 'becomes' has very strong magic. She does age obviously, but maybe Rapunzel ages differently. There's no telling if she would actually continue to age once she reached her majority. I also thought that she might sing for herself. Of course, it sounds very silly, but its fun to think about I guess (even if it is a tad morbid).

I could certainly see Gothel keeping her corpse around if it still worked for her. ug - Great pic, though!

Well I guess Rapunzel would have to sing to herself to keep herself from aging, that's what I thought, so since she never sang to herself she aged (though she sure didn't LOOK 18)

Also the power of Rapunzel's hair is incredibly temporary, age would reverse for about three days and then the person (Gothel) would begin to rapidly age back to her actual age, considering how old Gothel really was (hundreds of years old) I would wager that with the power or Rapunzel's hair still existing but not being used, it would probably take about 2 weeks for the full aging effect (the turning into dust) to happen.

If you hadn't guessed, I'd wondered on that as well.

I wondered that too! However, wouldn't Rapunzel not age as well? It is her hair after all...

Well I mean she had to age; how else would she have gotten to 18?

That's true, but I'm sure if she can keep mother gothel the same age, she can choose to do so herself?
