Description
This was an exercise in practicing color and light that got a little out of hand. I did the lines back in 2009 ([link] ). I was itching to practice some color and decided to just nab some old lines and have fun. This is the result.Velociraptor that is overjoyed about...something. I don't know, maybe there is a burrito just off screen
Colors are based loosely on a modern game chicken morph. Modern game chickens are little badasses.

Love the lavender iridescence in the feathers! What a poofy little Velociraptor.

While I do like this drawing, I can't help but wonder if the Velociraptor's wrist is folded too far back ( [link] ).

One consolation is that I did the lines before that paper came out, haha!

Same--I love the colors and textures on this little raptor (I'm really digging the soft lavender and brown combo), but my eyes were drawn to the rather sharp angle of the tail. has an excellent blog entry specifically on dino tails at [link]
(I've never seen the DinoGoss blog, thanks for the link!)

It matches Scott's prediction, but is extra poofy and may be making the tail look at a sharper angle than it is.

ha! Clearly a burrito. XD
Nice colouring job! I'm still too scared to even try digital colouring.
