Description Hey all. Just thought I'd post something to show I haven't dropped off the face of the earth, heh.

Since this January I've been taking a course on drawing still lifes, and this was one of the many assignments I've done. The assignment asked me to draw a "narrative," which in this case meant drawing items on a tabletop or shelf that related to characters or elements of a story. I was also required to include a mirror or other such reflective object that portrayed part of my face, including at least one eye.
I used real items to model from, and the story I came up with was that of a young person trying to earn money for college. He or she is trying to write an essay for a scholarship essay contest, hence the paper and pencil. The money jar in the upper right corner reflects how they have been saving every penny they can, and the half-eaten doughnut and the mug indicate just how busy they are--they won't even take a proper break for a snack! The watch next to the money jar is the person's way of keeping track of the time, though time and money alike are something there never seems to be enough of. I could find no logical way to incorporate the required mirrored eye into the story, but if anything, the eye reflected in the little hand mirror portrayed here may hint at the tiredness or overwhelmed feelings of the young, struggling writer.

I have several more still life drawings from this class, and there are more yet to be made. I will likely post more of them in the future, though their quality will vary. I may or may not post them in the order they were drawn. This one, though, is my most recent.

I hope to post more fan art in the future, including a collab I've been at for months, but college and other life factors make it hard to find time and the right state of mind for these things. Until next time, thanks to all of you who have stuck around despite my absence.

Come now, have patience.
A well thought-out Note is written when it is written, and not a moment sooner.
