JUMP MAGIC!!! Yaaayyys!...and...haven't we seen this pose before???This is Shyla's Sailor outfit, from an off-shoot of my own char's story where she becomes a Sailor senshi!~
Actually, this isn't her introductory picture, but I'm wanting to get everything done real quickly, so I just don't have time to wait for an even greater picture to be drawn, sos I'm just posting it up nows!I stole the pose from the Kanzenban Sailor Moon Manga, (that is, the newer printing with the new artwork on the front) and this one was Sailor Chibi-Moon's pose! Since it was just so much like Shyla, I just decided to steal it and call it good! And, actually, I just wanted to draw her in this pose!
Because of the thinness of the characters, humanizing is essential if the outfits are ever going to be seen!!! And, with the complicated nature of Shyla's outfit, this is obviously ...obvious!
Anyways, I drew this all in with my usual mediums, (that is, with any and everything that I could get my hands on in order to accomplish my work!) pencil, pen, india ink, colored pencils, gel-pens, markers, nail-polish, and some shiny, bumpy stickers! The outline with the india ink turned out thicker than I had wanted, because I thought I was inking with the good quill, and then it turned out to be the bad one, and I didn't stop in time to save it, and so I ended up inking it twice in order to make it look nice. But the lines have actually ended up looking quite nice, so I guess I don't have too much to complain about!
The pearls all around her were quite hard, since I STILL can't find any WHITE GEL-PENS *mumble grumble mumble* and the white nail-polish was hard to control. But, all-in-all, it did turn out quite well, and I am especially proud of the shadows that I added in just before scanning it! (Now THAT'S a story that you don't want to hear about!)
Oh! One more thing! Shyla's brooch and tiara are supposed to be pink on one side and purple on the other, but the scanner seemed to make the pink too bright, so it looks white! But I hope it looks alright when it's uploaded!!!
Anyways, there's many more Sailor Senshi pics to come, along with some new chars, and let me tell you: Dr. Dorkrot as a Sailor? HOTTT!!!

To be honest, yes this is a tad too much. :V I wouldn't over-do the character's pink frilliness with rainbows in the background. You can construct this in a better fashion without overdoing it. The way I see it's over-done is just the whole kawaii thing that's going on here. I assume it might be what you were going for, but then again people generally have issues with people posting things that they are not used to looking at, and like to poke and prod because they saw it from some friends, in all honesty people were laughing and saying "Wtf is this shit".
I think you're great at coloring, but color coordination, placement, and being more subdued will actually help you in the future.

No offence, but this is really odd to me. It is a unique crossover, yes, but probably one that I didn't think I'd ever see. That being said, the art is nice, just not my thing.

I was just frustrated that you said you'd browsed my gallery but didn't seem to know how to get to get there. And I've never had anyone have trouble telling my characters apart. They all have different colors and shapes.

Oh, I see what you meant by the sailor Shyla one. From what I know, people outside the IZ fandom find any irken OCs tend to look all the same. They're all green and have bug eyes with assorted colors. They just wanted a specific link since they can't tell the difference.

I can guarantee this has been posted on a tumblr. This usually garners people who don't like outrageous pictures that don't adhere close to canon, and have no problem stating it. It's usually a form of trolling, yet being brutally honest at the same time. Kinda refers to my recent comic regarding the issue that you commented on.
