A while ago, I had the idea to do an art jam for the first time. Now, that time has come. It's time for our first art jam!
Our first art jam will be based off a hit astronaut themed anime, that mixes real rocket science, with comedy. I'm of course talking about: Rocket Girls. (ロケットガール)
Rocket Girls is a science fiction fanservice comedy about a young student named Yukari Morita who during her summer vacation visits the Solomon Islands to find her father who abandoned her when she was little. There, she is found by a failing space company called the Solomon Space Agency (SSA) who offer to find her father if she works for the company as a part time astronaut. Hi-jinx ensues later afterwards.
The series was known for it's tongue and cheek humor and realistic science. Everything that was shown in the anime was based off of something from real life. The most notable was the iconic skintight spacesuits worn by the main ch
I was asked to draw "Rocket Girls" anime themed picture of Breanne and Davis going up on an orbitor. So here it is.
Well, looks like Breanne needs some more space training after having not paid attention to where she's going when following an astro-cat around.

They need to be for movement and space reasons. The capsules are small.
Also, another fun fact: Astronauts wearing the suit have to have their skin contact the suit, which means nothing can be worth underneath, not even underwear.

Besides fanservice reasons, the skinsuit in Rocket Girls is based off the real life prototype spacesuit the Newman Biosuit, a suit meant for Martain EVAs that could he easily repair with a simple bandage. Both suits have thin layers for heat and air, and use your body's own heat source through convection.
Of course, someone forgot to mention that the scientists at the Solomon Space Center were a little perverted, and they leave little to imagination. It's even worse since Breanne and mine..well you knows what, are exposed since we can't wear underwear in these. Funny thing, the SSA scientists actually suggested if it bothered us then we could try to wear our underwear OUTSIDE the spacesuit. TwT *Covers my groin, blushing*

The real astronauts has to wear diapers when they do hours-long spacewalks in their current suits, I do wonder how would biosuits deal with that.

They have small urine pads inside. The Rocket Girls novel touches on that. If you have to go number two you'll just have to hold it until in an environment with a proper toilet, like a space station.

Hold it? That's not good if they have to perform uninterrupted important chores and it takes a while to get in an air lock and be pressurized.... Oh dear...

The skinsuit isn't a problem for that. Due to the smaller design, they don't have to prebreathe like regular astronauts in those fatter suits. In the novel, they say "Those suits NASA wears make them look like Godzilla."
