Thank you so much! This was incredibly helpful! Most tutorials are vague and leave out theory all together.

This is one of the most useful tutorials I'm seen on DA.

I'm a beginning artist and most of the tutorials I've seen here are about what to do right or someone's drawing process. What sets yours apart is that is says what to do and what NOT to do. Plus, it's understand. I'll keep this in mind when I practice drawing.

P.S. Can't wait for the other parts.

Lady-Tempest In reply to ??? [2011-10-08 18:16:11 +0000 UTC]

I'm glad you explain why you shouldn't use certain tools while learning. I had found some tutorials that said not to use burn/dodge and the smudge tools but they didn't say why. I tried not using them out of curiosity and found that stuff actually looked better, took a bit longer but it was worth it. But I know quite a few people who were set in their ways simply because they didn't know how obvious the difference was, hopefully this will help them.

I realize now I did everything wrong in [link]
I had just realized about the soft brush on my own, but I had no idea about blending using different shades of color... and i admit I was getting attached to that dodge/burn tool XD
Thank you for this, I'll try the blending technique and see how it works out!
Also, haha, i'd love if you translated the next part.... no russian for me sadly
