I was taught right from wrongBy a murderer
I was taught truth from lies
By a magician
I was taught who my friends were
By my enemy
I was taught to be honest
By a professional liar
I was taught to always speak my mind
By being told to keep quiet
I was taught to be kind
By someone that beat me down
I was taught to smile
By someone who could never wipe a scowl of their face
I was taught to love
By being abused
I was taught to live
By someone who was already dead
I was taught to perform
By someone with stage fright
I was taught to be excellent
By someone that failed in everything
I was taught to rely on only my self
By being surrounded with people
I was taught to be perfect
By those that wanted to see me fail
I was taught to be loyal
By everyone that ever walked out of my life
I was taught to make people happy
By everyone who ever made me miserable
I was taught to control my temper
By those with explosive tempers
I was taught to take care of myself
By those who tried to kill me
I was taught what matters to me
By those that took it all away
I was taught how to be a girly girl
By a bunch of boys
I was taught how bad modern medicine can be
By a drug addict
I was taught who deserved my heart
By having my rib cage shattered
I was taught to stand center stage
By having my shoulders disjointed
I was taught not everyone is as nice as they seem
By having my wrist taken out
I was taught how far people are willing to go
By seeing him dying
This may not makes sense to everyone
But to those it does
They know, just like me
Betrayal is the best teacher
And, what doesn't kill you defines you

Sakura2349, you're a relatively well known devianART poet who writes thought provoking art. Have you ever thought of doing something useful? Like reading to the elderly? Not your stuff though. Something they'd enjoy.

really good, usually don't read anything on deviantart but this caught and kept my attention.
makes me think about all those things that build you up, of how things in life are more notorious in hight contrasts.

Trust me, I know the feeling. I can definitely relate to this poem, especially the second and fourth paragraphs. Finally, someone who can put this into words! I really do love this poem, and you did a great job on it. This feeling/experience is so hard to put to put into words, and this must have been very hard to write, so you really deserve a round of applause! And congrats on making the front page!

Lol, yeah, no problem. I've had that happen to me before, I was actually planning on putting it up here pretty soon. One day I was going through something rough, and all of a sudden, these lines just kept repeating in my head. Of course, with my luck, I couldn't get to a piece of paper until three hours later. Well, I hope you get something up on the front page again soon, you're an amazing writer.

Sorry for long post, if you want to read it, go ahead:
It is kinda complicated, there are 5 of them, 2 of them could understand the situation, one of them.....well....he didn't care at all....but the problem are the other two. One of them is the guy i had the problem with, he misunderstood the whole situation and i don't think he will forgive me, even if i talk to him....the other one, is the only girl on the group, and i have a crush on her, but when i told her she only wanted me as a friend, but then she started sorta (I think) avoiding me, i don't want her to be scared of me, and now with this she is really mad at me....and if i can't get them all to forgive me...i don't think i would be able to see them again :c

Maybe, that's what i'm gonna do. We talked about it just today, but i'm worried about the girl, i don't want her to hate me, and i heard stuff from one of my friends, about what she thinks about me and i want to fix it, no matter what.

God I love this poem. Learning to be better and improve from the past mistakes of others (how I interpreted it, at least) is something I can relate to. I especially love the second to last line, "Betrayal is the best teacher."
