THEME: Protection

Okay, so I wrote a little short piece of fanfiction to accompany this piece since I thought it would be cute if this really happened... haha. Hope you guys enjoy it

"Erm... Gar, are you okay?"
He did not respond, but only kept panting, as though he was blood-thirsty and eyeing his prey.
"Gar...?"
He whipped his head back, his brows dug so deep that beads of sweat could easily get trapped in those creases on his forehead. But his face quickly relaxed the moment his eyes lay on the look of shock and confusion on her face.
She raised her brow before placing a hand on his shoulder as if to calm him down. "Are you okay?"
"... er... yeah. Yeah, Rae, I'm fine."
"Are you sure?" she probed. "You know you can tell me what's wrong."
"Yeah, it's nothing."
Her hand on his shoulder was all the comfort he needed because he quickly realised how silly he would have seemed if she knew what had triggered his beastly instincts.
But the slight look of disappointment on her face told him that he shouldn't keep things to himself. The most important thing in a relationship is honesty. That's what his parents taught him. "Wait, I'll tell you what's wrong, but don't laugh, okay?"
She nodded, trying to keep her emotions under control as a faint smile appeared on her lips.
"I... I heard those kids talking," he started, his hand scratching the back of his neck. "And I overheard them saying that you're creepy."
She turned away, unable to control the wave of laughter that threatened to sieze her, letting it go in a series of chuckles.
"Erm... Rae...?"
"Sorry, I tried not to laugh. But seriously, that was it? That was what got you so... agitated?"
He scratched the back of his neck again - an action, it seems, that he always does when he is embarrassed.
"Yeah..."
"Gar, you know they're just kids."
"Yes, but I was also a kid when I first called you 'creepy'," he pouted.
Her eyes widened as her expressions softened. "Gar, are you still mad about that?"
"No..." he looked away. "Well, yes. A little."
"Gar, there's nothing for you to be mad about. You didn't mean it," she smiled. "We were just kids. You don't have to stay mad at yourself for so long."
He looked into her eyes and saw the beauty that she embodied. Why he called her 'creepy' was beyond him, for all he could see was Raven. His Raven.
"Well, look at the time. We'll be late for the release of Bubble Bots 4 if you're going to be staying here moping about a bunch of rude little kids. Come on, let's go." She held out her hand for him, a little smirk playing on her lips.
There are times when you fall in love with someone and you'd do anything to protect them. And it was at that moment that Beast Boy knew -

"Erm... Gar, are you okay?"

"Well, look at the time. We'll be late for the release of Bubble Bots 4 if you're going to be staying here moping about a bunch of rude little kids. Come on, let's go." She held out her hand for him, a little smirk playing on her lips.
