Description
NOTE: This is not the ONLY way to blend in Photoshop. There are brushes and other brush settings one can use to blend with. In fact, a combination of blending brushes and this tool is great!Watch on YouTube
**This is PERFECT for mouse artists who can't use pressure sensitivity or special blending brushes (made just for tablet users)!
This isn't me putting down SAI at all, just showing a way where you can blend in Photoshop like you can in SAI.
This tutorial /should/ work for PS 7+.
**HOW TO DO IN GIMP:
"To do the same thing in gimp, hit 'apply jitter.'" CitrineG
**HOW TO DO IN ELEMENTS:
comments.deviantart.com/1/3227…
I'm not a PS (or SAI) expert, but if you have any questions, just let me know and I'll do my best to help you!
I hope you find this tutorial helpful

I like this. You don't go through a bunch of steps to get to a certain result, you just teach a new yet simple skill that could be very useful. Cool.

Thank you sooooo much for putting this up! I've always wanted to get that blurred effect that you get in Sai (which I don't have) and now I finally can do that! n_n Thanks once again.

It only lags for me when I use a large brush size. Try shrinking the size of your brush that you're using to smudge and see if that helps you c:

Dude you are a life saver. I have a tablet but I'm always looking for new techniques. It's frowned upon using the smudge tool but some areas you just have to use it and this makes it actually look painted. I just tried this out on some sheer fabric and the results are amazing so thank you!

Woo!
I've been using the smudge tool since I first discovered it in Photoshop and I used to get so much Hell over it not being 'correct'. I've always looked at it like I would use a shading stick or napkin in traditional art.
Thanks so much for this! It'll make it a bit easier not to agree with them.
