The Homeworld GemsSimply the Homeworld, is the home planet of the Gem race and presumed capital of the Gems' intergalactic empire.
Description:
Little is known about the Homeworld Gems and its accurate history, culture, and society. It is at least known that Homeworld is a matriarchal society ruled by The Great Diamond Authority. Homeworld is a planet in a distant galaxy, which maintains an extensive empire of colony worlds, and constantly seeks to expand, as seen in "It Could've Been Great". Once suitable planets are located, they are exploited through facilities like the Kindergarten and then terraformed to be made fitted for Gem settlement, which would involve eliminating any pre-existing life on the planet.
Technology/abilities:
Over the past 5,000 years, the Homeworld Gems have developed advanced technology unfamiliar to the earthbound Crystal Gems. However, even 5,000 years prior, Gem technology was already considerably high-tech, already having invented things like space travel and holographic projection. In "Monster Reunion", it is revealed that some flash of light or explosion, used by the Diamonds, caused the corruption of Gems into monsters. Gems have many abilities, which can vary from Gem to Gem, including weapon-summoning, fusion, the power to 'store' material in their gemstones, the ability to use their gemstones like a flashlight, and bubble creation. All Gems with their own weapon have the ability to direct energy through their weapons. Gems are engineered to adapt to a variety of conditions and cannot die by any natural cause. Gems do not have to eat or sleep to survive, and their bodies will also automatically alter themselves to fit the conditions of whatever planet they're on, such as adjusting mass for gravity.
The Irken Empire
Is an aggressive expansionist force headed by the war-like Irken race. The Irkens are bent on galactic conquest and, with the aid of their massive armada, they may actually achieve this goal. The co-ruling emperors of the Irken Empire are the Almighty Tallest, Red and Purple. Since they are considered to be a bloodthirsty race, as Irkens have a superiority complex and feel a need to conquer other worlds. Because of this, the Empire has many enemies. The general history of the Irken Empire is mostly unknown, but by the time of the series is reasonably extensive, and both powerful and rich enough to engage in further plans for conquest. Several allied species affiliated themselves with the Irken Empire, and numerous others were already subservient to them, serving in a number of single-task roles as each planet is given a singular purpose in the Empire.
Technology/abilities: 2
Irken technology is some of the the finest in the universe, surpassing many others such as the Vortian's by far and is some of most feared from of technological advancements in the universe. The Irken Empire uses this advanced weaponry and other advancements to spread thier influence and conquest throughout the universe. The most advanced forms of Irken technology is used by The Irken Armada.

I'm already conceiving fanfictions that have these two empires be rivals/sworn enemies. One involves an Obsidian sneaking onboard the Massive and disguising herself as a slightly-smaller-than-the-Tallests and gaining the attention of Red (romantically.)
The other is involves an Irken/Gem hybrid having been sent to Earth during Operation Impending Doom 1 just as Zim accidentally kills the scientists that created it. She is taken in by the Crystal Gems, adopted by Greg Universe, and becomes an older sister to Steven. I'm torn between her having an Onyx or a Black Diamond (I like the latter because I can picture Black Diamond with shadow-related powers. Not to mention if she beats the Tallests in hight, she'd be the ruler of both Empires.)

This would be the most one-sided war in the history of fictional media. Irkens have shown to be a credible threat to pretty much everyone in the entire universe, having access to insanely superior technology and resources then any of other race. The Massive for instance is larger then most planets.
Every single Irken in existence is bred to be a deadly soldier and most are clones of legendary invaders from the past.
The Irkens would turn Homeworld into a parking lot within minutes.

i belive the irkens can win, the irkens are a perfect race to fight, high tecnology, good invaders (except zim), good soldiers (just a little bit crazy) and almost numberless, we don't know how much gems still have the homeworld but see Peridot and Jasper, they came to earth in a huge ship just with 3 people inside (and one of them was a prissioner) i dunnot know... maybe if zim want to help the irkens are screw XD

Irkens by far.
The Irken race's technology is so abstract it would be stupid to try to measure their abilities. They can do whatever the writers want them to do. We can only assume that Irken Technology and the tech of a few other obscure factions is almost limitless, as they are able to do wacky things like attach massive constructs that cover 50% of planets, and completely wipe out all life with a few lasers. Don't even get me started on all of the devices that if used wrong, can blow up entire worlds. The only real threat to the Irkens in their universe are the "Meekrob" who are "beings of pure energy." The Resisty only managed to graffiti on the Irken Flagship because it was being controlled by Zim.
I also believe that The Almighty Tallest get a lot of undeserved hate. It's true that they do not take their jobs seriously, but they are not incompetent. If they were, the Control Brains (The true leaders of the Irken Empire whom are essentially eldritch abominations) would have already disposed of them.

Gems. Unlike the Tallest, they don't screw around when it comes to conquering the galaxy. Trouble is, there's a lot we still don't know about both factions. I'm not sure how long Irken "smeets" spend in a test tube, but Gems (with the exception of Amethyst) look like they pop out of the ground instantaneously after the injectors work their magic. Gems are also completely inorganic, and don't share any of the biological weaknesses of the Irkens (meat, water, etc.). The Irkens may have the advantage in numbers and ranged weaponry, but (as seen with Jasper) it takes a lot of effort to bring down a Quartz gem. Rose knew how to hit her own kind where it hurt. The Irkens don't.

that's ridiculous. A) the Gems need recsources (which they mare sevrely lacking in rn) o create more gems and TIME, they specifically state it takes GENERATIONS UPON GENERATIONS to not just seed a planet for new life but for those gems to hatch, then there's the issue of their efficiency. the RIrken Empire kills off all their defects, there isnt a singe one among them, the Gems however hqave them by the millions, and most of the ones still alive are nothing BUT rejects, and all of them popped out late. unlike the Gems, time isnt something the irkens need. AT ALL, their numbers are endless and their weapons VASTLY outgun anythuing the gems have. An orbital Attack From 1 of the Massives would be enough to glass the earth. the Armada has been growing for eons, ever expanding with NO SINGLUAR FAILURE. even zim isnt a failure, ZIKM LITERALLY DESTROYIGN THEIR HOMEWORLD QWASNT ENOUGH TO STOP THEM FROM CONQUERING EVERTY PLANET ON THEIR LIST FOR IMPENDING DOOM 1. WHAT COULD HOMEWOLD POSSIBLY HOPE TO DO IF A SMALL GROUP OF SEVERAL HUNDRED TRAIITORS IS ENOUGH TO HOLD THEM BACK FOR LITERAL CENTURIES. the irkens are just too efficient, too advanced, too ruthless, and too overwhelming for anything the gemms may even dream to carry out... oh and THE IRKENS MADE A CLUSTER TOO! THEIRS ACTUALLY DIDDN'T FAIL. Zim just deactivacticvated it, and the tallest didnt care cause they never wanted earth to begin with. th was ONE LONE, GROUND TROOP. not even their best, just Tak, an average troopo ACTIVELY being held back by LITERLALLY THE ONLY ARGUMENT FOR THE IRKENS INCMPETENCE. and they STILL won.

I think they'll destroy each other in a tie. The Gems have the magical abilities while the Irkens have the technological advantage.
I say it'd be an even fight with no winners save for those who don't get involved (ex: The Crystal Gems and Earth.)

As much as I love Steven Universe (which managed to take my number 1 favorite show slot away from Invader Zim) I have to give it to the Irken Empire. Say what you want about there leaderships, to date there only living enemies are The Resisty and they only survived became of Zim. As far as out right war between the two Homeworld has a need for recourses to make more troops so world they take would be colonized, where as the Irken don't they simply enslave what they can and destroy everything they cant. Then there is fleet strength to consider we don't know homeworlds but we do know the Irken who are a large enough threat that a race called the Planer Jacks made a treaty with them rather than fight them. Now if we are talking a ground war then Homeworld would win, until the Irken fleet bombards the planet from orbit. I love Steven Universe but I'm sad to say know the Irken empire Homeworld would lose just not quickly.

However, they've never faced a enemy like the gems. The fact that they aren't organic beings makes them difficult to fight since most weapons are simply useless against inorganic matter. And from what I've seen one warrior gem is worth ten Irken soldiers. While you have a point about resources remember, while the production of gems in this era is not as efficient as it was previously, they are still producing them by the thousands. And the Gem Empire has compensated for the lack of stronger gems with superior technology. That, and to make up for the diffeciencies of the Era 2 gems, they still have plenty of gems left over from the Era 1 armies since gems are immortal and in the past they've colonized thousands of worlds. Meaning they still have possibly millions of battle hardened veteran gem soldiers left over.
