Backstory:
Ingrid is a merfolk hybrid who was raised by her father when her mother had passed away after giving birth to her. at the age of 4 the war began and Ingrid's family home was destroyed when her city was attacked by machines. They became homeless and to survive, Ingrid's father began pick-pocketing and stealing food to feed his daughter. He continued to do this for many years, and when she was old enough, he encouraged her to steal as well.
In the final months of the war, Ingrid's father was killed when they were trying to escape a war zone and after the war had ended Ingrid was found and taken to live at an orphanage. she hated living there and after a couple weeks she escaped and ended up living on the streets again. She continued to steal people's money and break into homes until one day, she came across a gang of thieves who accepted her into their group. She stayed with the group for years and had a good relationship with most of the members except for one who on one evening had been heavily drinking and started fighting with the other members and when Ingrid confronted him, he slashed her throat with a broken bottle. she survived but lost the ability to speak and once she had recovered, she abandoned the group, and the group disbanded shortly after. She continued her career as a thief, stealing from the wealthy, selling their possessions and giving away some of her earnings to help others.
