Description
I recently had the wonderful opportunity to illustrate a little story by Cecil Castellucci for Tor.com. I was honored that they came to me for a dragon and had a lot of fun with this. Painted in acrylics, colored and edited in photoshop.Read the story here: [link]

Hey Kyle. Unfortunately not - the traditional version isn't really worth looking at, and it actually looks like I won't be able to make the show this year. I'm moving to Seattle next month and just can't afford the trip all the way back so soon. I am working on a new traditional dragon though and hope to get into the 2013 show

*Stunned by the gorgeousness of this piece* I find this perfect--the dragon is a feast for the eyes, you do the anatomy, lighting, colouring, perspective (basically everything) of it so well, it looks so tangible, so real, so full of character. I can almost hear it rumbling... Love the claw on the gargoyle <3 And the little bird on its other paw :3
The background of the piece is just icing on the cake; the sky, the landscape, the building on the right--just the right amount of detail, love the colour scheme for it, and how it contrasts against the stone grey of the castle... and of course, love the angle you drew it from.
Simply breathtaking!!!

Love the design of the creature, and the angle of perspective looking down.

that is so nEAt!
But those wings, THOSE WINGS, are a bit tiny to support such thing in the air :=0
But it's still pretty neat!

Thanks. According to the story he's got 'tiny' wings that seem impossibly small for supporting his frame

Oh I see
(I still find it funny how illustrators have to comply to commissioner's brief)

Gorgeous. I love the drop down into the city, and the relaxed look of the dragon.

Acrylics!? wow! Would you be opposed to uploading the traditional version before the photoshop coloring? If not, it's cool, I'm just curious.

I'd have to check my contract. Tor might not be thrilled about me posting WIPs.
