Siddhārtha Gautama (Sanskrit: सिद्धार्थ गौतम; Pali: Siddhattha Gotama) was a spiritual teacher from ancient India who founded Buddhism. In most Buddhist traditions, he is regarded as the Supreme Buddha of our age, "Buddha" meaning "awakened one" or "the enlightened one. The time of his birth and death are uncertain: most early 20th-century historians dated his lifetime as c. 563 BCE to 483 BCE, but more recent opinion dates his death to between 486 and 483 BCE or, according to some, between 411 and 400 BCE. By tradition, Gautama is said to have been born in the small state of Kapilavastu, in what is now Nepal, and later to have taught primarily throughout regions of eastern India such as Magadha and Kośala. -According to Wikipedia-

Very, very nice. I love this piece's colors and always a fan of Japanese characters like Kanji or Katana. I'm assuming it's Japanese anyway since Buddhism reached Japan at one point where it was quickly adopted by the people. I'm not sure if it was very big in China or not, but I know that the writing isn't Indian in origin, ha ha. Wish I knew how to read and write it.

thanks , glad you like it. Actually the characters is Mandarin or Chinese, and of course it has a similarity to Kanji or katakana. Buddhism is a major religion both in Japan and China, even a lot of people think that Buddhism come from chinese. In my country Indonesia, Buddhism is one of the old religion besides Hindu, and has an important role in Indonesian culture, like Borobudur the biggest Buddha temple in the world.

the word that i put in my work written "Shì jiā móu ní fó" or Buddha Sakyamuni / Buddha Gautama in Indonesia.

Cool. I had thought Buddhism originated in India. I think maybe I had heard it had supposedly originated in Indonesia, but mistakenly remembered incorrectly. I didn't know that it might have originated instead from China. Thank you for telling me! :-D Yes, about the Mandarin. I heard that centuries ago, maybe around the 1100 AD period, that Japan was influenced by the written language in China? Anyway, I think I heard the 12th century AD but I'm just guessing now.
