The other morning at breakfast me and Teddy were busy discussing fun things to do while Otter Keeper was at work. We had decided on colouring in, looking at the new space book and doing some roly polies. But then all of a sudden Teddy looked really sad – it had just dawned on him that there was a real lack of support for roly poly technique. He
had spotted that there may be people out there who were bad at roly polying, or worse still, had never even done a roly poly. Teddy had a good point. So after giving him a hug to cheer him up, we decided to make this guide.

We really hope our guide is useful. If you are not already a regular roly polyer make sure you do at least one roly poly each day (use our guide to help). Me and Teddy find the right balance is about 3-4 roly polies spread out throughout the day (but don’t do roly polies when it is very near to bed time as this can annoy Otter Keeper?).

Otter is so adorable. I'd be tempted to give the vase just one tiny crack or chip... but otherwise, completely charming.

Hey ya... sorry for the delayed response... have been traveling. I ended up with Flashlight Press by querying any publishing house that dealt with picture books that also allowed open submissions. (using the Chrildren's WRitere's and Illustrator's Market book for reference) It happens I got lucky on the first round with Flashlight. The next one with Holiday House took a bit longer, but was worth the wait. Thanks for your kind words about VMC... She just bounced out onto bookstore shelves in June. Very exciting, and a little nerve wracking too.

You basically broke me into going "AAAWWWwww" when it said "kick feet for propulsion" and then otter is using those little stubs for feet to make it past the first half of the roll. Haha very nice drawings! It’s always a pleasure to see Otter art when it pops up in my watch inbox

Hey, this is going to be helpful. I need to try roly polys myself.

I'll try to give this a decent critique. The whimsical art style as always is charming and this tutorial's words seem much like something one of my nieces or nephews would come up with if trying to explain procedures for something like roly-polys in a proper and professional manner. (These things are serious and meant to be treated as such.) The attention to shading and detail and what is nice. You even added a small water drip to your notebook paper and have other imperfections like the sketch lines on the jar. The use of color in certain points is very well done too.

Overall I'd describe this work as charming.

I used to LOVE doing roly polies when I was younger. A good tip (if Otter-keeper isn't around to complain) is to take all the seat cushions off the chairs, line them up in a nice neat row and roly poly along them, that way you don't squash your ears as much

Has Otter knocked Teddy out or is rolypolying just too exhausting to think about? I am of a mind to give this a go, but am afraid I will get my foot stuck in the vegetable rack or maybe land in the dog's water dish. Will ask Otter for help if I get into difficulties. Will print rolypolying training sheet and see where destiny takes me.
