Description
I had this monster suggested to me, and it was just so weird that I had to try to make it a thing.I was excited at the idea of a spider swarm as a breath-weapon.

I'm going to have to use this, it'll be my replacement for dropping a cow on trouble players.

This thing is terrifying,
I really like the design.
I think I'll put one in the forest of exploding pine trees as yet another thing to make the party run from.

Interesting monster, I love the breath-weapon idea.
I can imagine a few characters from my DemonHunters game wanting these as mounts.

Thanks! I wish I could take credit for the terrifying breath-weapon, but that was actually a part of the beasty as he was described to me. Anyone who could make use of these things as mounts has all of my terror.

I ran the critters again awhile ago, One player tried to tame it an make it a pet or mount... Long story short, they don't have a pet or a mount. But do have to pay hefty compensation(I mean, if you wanna try that, maybe keep it outside the city until it's tamed...)

The use as a mount would be entirely played for laughs with my group. One the characters in our DemonHunter (a comedy-horror system) games is a living statue with a "unique" view of the world. She loves elephants because they are "big and grey and strong and cute and awesome, just like me!" and would probably find the breath weapon useful for getting rid of birds (which she is afraid of). She wouldn't be too keen on the evil alignment though, and would probably make a rather daft attempt to change that ("you can have another peanut if you promise to be less evil")

LOL! I can never manage comedy-horror. I always swing too far in one direction.
It sounds like you guys might just have the balance right.

With some of my players, everything risks becoming comedy sooner or later, so I might as well make it a comedy I can control. The Demon Hunters setting is great for this sort of stuff as it's written by guys who used to make comedy horror movies..

That would be a really cool breath weapon. Does it come out the mouth or the trunk?

When I first made it, it spewed Spiders out of its mouth.

Thanks, Gusindor! The mouth, I'd say. The trunk would be veering towards silly, maybe.
And we all know there's nothing silly about D&D.

Depends on who's playing. In my group the serious campaigns devolve into silliness, and the silly campaigns we take seriously.

LOL! Our campaigns tend to swing back and forth internally. We have sessions that are sillier than others.

Does your group get silly when they're tired? My group goes completely off the walls when we're tired.

I don't know... I don't think we've ever really played tired as a group. We have one player who tends to nod off at the drop of a hat. He's been responsible for the founding of the Order of the Narcoleptic Paladins.
