How do you add another color without the colors in the other layers overlapping? (Where you can kind of see the first color underneath)

I just noticed, for one of the big picture, where you said the dragon and girl is finished, there was no hand!

And a question, do you use the blur or smudge tool?

Thank you so much for your tutorial. Your artwork is amazing. (I'm sure you've heard that a thousand times, though. ) It's definitely something I'll refer to when I'm doing my own work.

I forgot to say this in the second part - thank you for showing how you do the detail on the eyes/gems. I always get confused on the highlights of them - it's awesome to see that it's not as hard as I thought it was.

Thank you for posting this tutorial! I use the same Photoshop brush that you do for the majority of my work already, because it does such an excellent job with painting highlights. The one thing this tutorial can't do is teach your senses of composition and color choice, which I must say are spectacular in this piece.

There's a brush tutorial o.O That sounds quite helpful. I'm going to hunt that down once I finish the 4th part of this series.

The concepts are a lot more clear to me now, however, using the computer brushes are far more static than say, working with acrylic paints. Okay... onto 4

Wow, fantastic tutorial! Thanks! But I do have one question:

Do you leave your sketch lines a separate layer this whole time, or do you eventually merge it when the solid colors? Had trouble following that.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

sandara In reply to TPalmer [2009-06-05 03:00:58 +0000 UTC]

i merge them... coz at the end of the whole process, there shouldn't be much of the sketch lines left. i'd have painted over them all.

TPalmer In reply to sandara [2009-06-05 21:41:26 +0000 UTC]

Good point. How early do you merge them though? Only at the end?
