Oh wow!
I had overlooked that one!
I LOVE IT!
He could be the cousin of my ''King of the mountain''

Thank you, Tom!

Yeah, they could be cousins, or even brothers!

I can definitely see your improvement - especially in your awareness of volumes in space. The way the wings fold is so cool and believable now! The one thing I "miss" from the old piece is the stronger contrast. I really loved that dramatic rimlight and the way the dragon was silhouetted against a lighter sky. That doesn't mean it's a flaw here, it really just depends on the mood you're trying to communicate. The old dragon had just made a flashy entrance, the new one has alreadyΒ razed the placeΒ to the ground.
I was just going to say "keep it up!" but I guess I'll pass since I have 17 PIECES by SaneKyle in my inbox

Glad you can see it! You're actually right and my attempts to make my values subtler
has led to the contrast being weaker. I've been meaning to bring that back and so I
check my values in grayscale and work under the filter with the darkest or brightest tones.
I forget if I did that when I made this piece, hahahaha!

Yeah, I've been quite busy! You'll be seeing more revamps of old work later on. Cheers!

That's a fantastic amount of improvement in just two years! Congratulations!
Really love the way you do backgrounds now (it's really an unique and cool style) and of course everything else is much better as well: The anatomy, the pose, the wings, the values... Really love its face a lot!
Only thing I noticed that the artwork seems to lack some contrast, but on the second thought it might just be my monitor.. But I feel like some places might be a tiny bit darker maybe.^^

Glad you think so! Thank you!
While I still have a lot to learn in terms of environments, it's great
to hear that even backgrounds have a "SaneKyle" flavor to it. That's cool.
I'm really happy with how the dragon turned out; I'm definitely going to make
more. I'm hoping dragons are one thing I'll be known for.

Since I've received a lot of feedback on Facebook regarding this piece, maybe in the
future I'll touch it up to portfolio-worthy level. Thansk again! Cheers!

It will then make you happy to hear that I watch over 1000 deviants here and still recognize your art from the thumbnail picture already. I think you really have a quite unique and beautiful style.

Ha, I love dragons as well. It's really lovely to draw a dragon from time to time, they are just so majestic creatures.

If you feel like it! I think it' totally fine to upload not-so-finished works, since if you try to do everything always perfect, the enjoyment you get to draw something might vanish and it gets only a chore. Which would be really sad. So forcing yourself to do something you actually don't want to do is never a great idea. ^^

That makes me very happy indeed! I hope that my style endures! Glad you think so!
Thank you.

I've been trying to get good at painting dragons for quite some time, don't know
why I haven't been practising, but I think now I'm on the right track.

Yeah, I do that, too, but I don't post WiPs here, I do on my Facebook page, though.

Dragons are really a great subject to draw, especially since there is such a variety of dragon forms you can chose from.

That's great! Would totally watch you on Facebook as well, if I had a Facebook account. ^^

man , thats one evil-looking dragon, nice work. Ilove his whole face/head area. Also the thing you got going on with the wings looks pretty damn cool.

So majestic! I like how you, in some subtle way, give your dragons expressions. Like they aren't mindless beasts.

damn, it looks amazing! I can easily spot your dragons from a mile away, great style Sanekyle, really like the way you played with the light on those wings

SaneKyle In reply to CarlosBercini [2016-03-07 06:12:44 +0000 UTC]

Thank you! Are my dragons really that distinct?! In that case I must make more and more
dragons. Glad you like the "subsurface scattering". I just got used to how light reflects through
stuff, so I might have more fun with it in the future! Cheers, Carlos!
