Description
Welcome to dA 'mote Machine, a Flash application that I created so than ANYONE can make their own emoticon! Why?
Well, after thinking about this and hearing from people what they thought about this, I have decided that you cannot claim the creations here as an OC, which means "original character." The reason is very justly that other OCs may already exist with similar styles, and if you claim this as an OC, it's not really original. This edit was made on 2/12/12, so anything made after this date is a violation of the rule. Anything made before is okay.
Why dA 'mote machine?
My theory is that anyone should be given the resources to create and customize their own emoticon! With this application, you are given the tools to create your own emoticon! After you create your emote, I highly encourage you to develop it on your own! This Flash application does not give you free control over all of the emote's features, which is why it is important for you to develop the emote on your own! The point is not to make it simple to make emotes, the point is to give newcomers the resources they need to get started emoting, or to give experienced emoticonists a fun experience!
After you create your emote, why don't you look at #Emotication for more resources?
What do you do?
Very simply, just click through the navigation to select the parts from your emoticon. If you click on the QUESTION MARK icon you will find help, and if you click on the SPEECH BUBBLE icon you will find more information about this application.
Most importantly, HAVE FUN!
HAVE A QUESTION?
Ask it in the comments section!
FOUND A BUG?
Leave a comment on this deviation with the issue you've found and it will be fixed as soon as possible!
This is also an emoticon community project! I am looking for new accessories, expressions, poses, and mouths! If you are interested in contributing to this interactive application (and being given credit), please note me.
I look forward to your contributions! Let's make the transition for non-emoticonists into learned ones fun and smooth!
Fun Facts:
By my calculation, there are 272 possible combinations of pieces possible in this application. This is not including the possible combinations with the panning tool.
I roughly estimate that there are over 800 lines of code involved in this project.
The help and more info scenes are actually images, not pages.
This took me the entire month of January to complete. For the first two weeks I literally worked on it every day.
I hand-colored and created every sprite you see in it now.
All code here is written from scratch.
The downloading function took me longer than most of the other scenes. o-O
I am excited.

EXAMPLES (without the ugly background)
I'm going to change that horrendous preview image one day.
Thank you to the beta testers who helped me with this! Without you guys I wouldn't have caught all of the bugs. <3

I really like it! It's really cool! Are you gonna make one with emoticons that move? Because that is really cool! I'm just wondering, but where can I make one that moves? Just curious. What else will you do, or at least planning to do? Like, are you gonna make another emoticon maker? I hope you keep making these, and hope that you'll do other really cool stuff in the future. Also, how do you make these type of games, as in creators and all that? Because I can't figure it out. That's all I wanted to say.
Keep up the good work!!!! e.deviantart.net/emoticons/b/b… " width="15" height="15" alt="

I 'freakin love this thing.
Looong before I had the ability to make emotes, I discovered this. Tried it out. Loved it. Shortly after, I learned how to make my own, but I still love this.
It's easy, fun, slightly addicting, and extremely creative. I would have never thought of this! e.deviantart.net/emoticons/c/c… " width="20" height="20" alt="
" title="Clap"/> I applaud you on your originality.
It's extremely easy to use and the rules are very clear. Just select a color and go! e.deviantart.net/emoticons/d/d… " width="21" height="15" alt="

You've helped so many people who would like to be emoticonists get started. You helped me, because after using this, I wanted to know how to really make my own. e.deviantart.net/emoticons/a/a… " width="15" height="15" alt="

Anyways, this is very well done! I love it. I can't wait for more accessories and such to be added, and while I wait eagerly, I shall play around with this some more. e.deviantart.net/emoticons/w/w… " width="15" height="15" alt="

This is all so great to hear! I definitely created it to make it more accessible to become an emoticonist, even if it just eases you into making them slowly, which is what it sounds like you did! I hope that this helps many people explore the artform! Also, thanks for the critique and the feedback!

Nice job. I highly recommend this to any emote-guy, even though I'm not one. I find this a very interesting "program" to use to make any type of emotion. Thank you.
