Blackbird watched quietly as she watched her father slip away again.

The memory of his grinning face as he left their home, mother wishing him good luck, telling him to be back home before dinner...

And he he never came back.

She quickly stumbled towards the door, tears starting to line her eyes. The air around her felt heavy as her ears began to ring. Bad things flashed in her mind. The sick people, the death, that black ooze.

She couldn’t bare thinking about her father joining them.

She pounded the door with her tiny paws, sobbing for her beloved father to come back. To stay there with her. Blackbird didn’t want him to disappear again. Not again, please not again.

But there was no use. Her paws ached, body shaking. Her ear twitched to a familiar voice, prompting her to weakly look behind her. There stood Taco, leaning on one of the walls of the caravan. Her face twisted into one of concern.

Slowly, the grey Wyngling started to drag herself towards her, the necklace around her throat dangling uselessly. Taco somehow managed to sit on the floor, arms open to the distraught child.

Eventually, she reached her. The biped scooped Blackbird into her arms, holding her close to her chest. The Wyngling started to gently cry.

Everything was going to be okay...
