Description "Videodrome: Days of O'Blivion version I", 2016. Digital illustration, 26 x 19 cm.
(Check the red version here-----> santillanstudio.deviantart.com… )

I made several version of this illustrations for the upcoming novel "Videodrome: Days of O'Blivion", written by my talented friend Lee McGeorge.  The novel is a prequel of David Cronenberg's masterpice "Videodrome" from 1983, starring James Woods, Sonja Smits, and Debbie Harry.

The movie is a classic that explores themes of mind-control, mass media, over-consumption, and evolution. It predicted that “in the future, everyone will have special names” same as you, my dear reader, probably have a pseudonym you use when online. It also predicted youtube, google and the symbiotic/parasitic/addictive relationship that we have with technology and media. It is a fascinating movie that  Andy Warhol once described as "The Clockwork Orange of the 1980s".

As a Videodrome fan, I assure you that the novel is 100% loyal to the spirit of the movie. If you are a fan of the film, you're gonna love it. Also, "Videodrome: Days of O'Blivion" is the world's first internet connected book! Follow this link to learn more about that! --> www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZuLQ2g…

I'll upload the published version soon, along with a link to get a free downloadable copy of the novel. Stay tuned!

No, no no, I think it might be something else...maybe something in the title? I'll think of it.

Hi, Urotoraman Zenith!

I was going to say the same that MechanicOrga, but maybe is because the pallette is similar to the iconic poster of The Thing, painted by Drew Struzan in 1982. The final cover for this book will be orange, that is the best colour for Videodrome. Cronenberg's art director, Carol Spier talks about it on one of the DVD commentaries. She did some research on colour and discovered that after long periods of time orange becomes the most oppressive and miserable colour. That fact formed the set design of the Videodrome set which in turn dictated the palette for the cinematographer. The cover took me a cople of days, so I worked in blue to avoid mental fatigue and depression.

By the way, my friend Lee also wrote a prequel of The Thing, entitled "The Thing: Zero Day". If you're interested, check for the cover on my gallery, there's a link to download the novel.
