I like the design of the cartoon rabbit character
really good flow of motion n realistic joint function

I must admit, the character very much reminds me of Bill the Cat from Outland/Bloom County. Intentional?

hehe.. i had to google who billy the cat was.. so no, its not intentional.. but i can definitely see the resemblance, yeah..!!!

It looks a little slow to me, but other than that you did pretty good.

It is hypnotic, I keep watching, waiting and expecting for him to get the carrot, even though I know it i is a loop. lol Very nice job.

I keep trying to pull it down closer to him with the little had that appears went I click on my screen but I am unable to help him.
This is so very cute, motion and physics is very natural but the your assistant and his challenge in this demonstration are the best

very neat. The subtle shadow effect is impressive.

the left arm at the end is a little jerky (last few seconds) but overall very nice, you conveyed weight pretty well especially since he has huge feet

yeah i saw that too.. but its more of an experiment on how the CAT system works in 3ds max.. did you ever try it ? its really amazing.. it makes things really easy..

no, i don't use max, maya does my head in as it is, i don't need a new headache

haha.. does maya have anything else to rig with then bones and the muscle system ?

berserkgem In reply to SaphireNishi [2013-04-04 03:57:11 +0000 UTC]
i honestly don't know, we haven't even talked about that stuff yet and i haven't bothered confusing myself with it but i'm sure it will be the same as max since they're both owned by the same bunch of rich fuckwits

SaphireNishi In reply to berserkgem [2013-04-04 21:45:18 +0000 UTC]
well thats not really true.. max and maya have a complete different way of setting up a rig.. thats way its so hard to export complete rigs from one program to the other.. only matching thing is simple straight forward bones.. but anything else isnt compatible anymore..
i know the muscle system that maya has is unmatched to any other 3d application.. its really powerful and as i understand it is really easy to use.. but i have no idea what kind of other systems are available in maya to rig either..

berserkgem In reply to SaphireNishi [2013-04-05 05:12:50 +0000 UTC]
well like i said i'm pretty sure they'd both have the same rigging features (deformations etc) but like you said it would be done differently hence why you cant import from to the other easily.
hopefully rigging isn't as hard as everyone is making it out to be, otherwise i'll just pay someone to rig my models for me

SaphireNishi In reply to berserkgem [2013-04-05 20:23:11 +0000 UTC]
well, not to scare you or anything , but rigging is an artform on its own.. just like modeling is.. the basic principal is pretty easy.. but getting good results requires a lot of skill.. so mastering rigging is going to take a lot of time and practice to get really good at it..

good b/c i don't want to bother with it anyways plus i'm sure there are some good free pre-made rigs out there, it's just a matter of searching far and wide for them
that's what i like about the 3d industry - if there is something you don't like, you don't have to worry about it b/c there are a ton of other things you can do in the studio

Ha ha... That's quite moving! I don't think that you mean 61 fps...

SaphireNishi In reply to steady-by-jerks [2013-04-03 07:09:42 +0000 UTC]
lol.. no its 30 fps with 61 frame.. so that means 2 second of animation

this is pretty good saphy, minor things like ear/whisker/foot flex could be improved but i doubt that`s the main thing you were after. the mechanism of the jump looks really smooth and works well as a single unit, the limbs don`t lose pace with the body. good work

thank you babes.. im trying out the different rigging systems there are in 3ds max.. we got basically 3 ways to do it.. there is bones which i used in the basic physic movement animation.. then there is biped which i tried with the assassin creed thingy.. and we have CAT (Character Animation Toolkit).. i definitely like this CAT system the best.. its a pretty simple process and works really fast..

A-Little-Dusty In reply to SaphireNishi [2013-04-03 15:41:10 +0000 UTC]
oh cool, so you are trying lots of methods, i like your style. the CAT thing seems to produce good results for sure so if you feel comfortable with maybe make that the main system?
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
SaphireNishi In reply to A-Little-Dusty [2013-04-03 22:20:03 +0000 UTC]
well we have basically 3 ways on how we can make a complete rig inside 3ds max.. all 3 have their pros and cons..but yeah, i do think i like this cat system the best.. now that i try them all i can go deeper into one of them to see if i can get better results.. the problem with rigging is that its an art form on its own.. just like modeling is too.. so understanding how things work is actually the easy part.. but getting a skill for it is what is the hard part..

it`ll be worth the effort, i work in a specialized trade and it took me maybe 7 years to get good. Still learning
