Looking really good, if you want to make a runway model walk from this you could have her bring her front foot in line with the rear as she paces, like walking a line

yeah its all different kind of walks you can go for.. but the basic principal is all the same..

yes you are i feel you are getting frustrated at times but it's all part of the process. I'm really imagining something great to come out of all this.

oh yeah.. sometimes its really frustrating cause you know something is possible but how to do it is the problem.. i dont have anyone i can ask either cause everyone i know uses the other big 3d appliaction.. dammit.. i always make the wrong choices, but in the end, every time i figure something out its a good feeling and it balances out the negativety right away cause i did it all on my own

during a walk, the move of the body goes up and down, she looks straight because you didn't initiate this slightly move. it happens when knees are flexed during walk cycle. She's up when her leg (right or left of course) is pushing on the floor, and down when she change of pressure point.

SaphireNishi In reply to Orpheelin [2013-02-16 23:50:39 +0000 UTC]

well there is a up and down movement on the hip actually.. its just very small.. ill try to make it more visible in the next one.. see if that makes it look better.. thank you

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Orpheelin In reply to SaphireNishi [2013-02-17 00:51:11 +0000 UTC]

if you take care about, you'll see it's not only the hips. all the body should make this slight move of up and down. when you walk, your head doesn't stay at the same height ! I am a 2D animator for 10 years now, walk is one of the first thing we've studied in animation school. that's a hard work but you're close to the good result! keep going! ^^

SaphireNishi In reply to Orpheelin [2013-02-17 01:06:41 +0000 UTC]

well i think the bouncing of the whole body actually depends on the footwear.. if a woman is walking on high heels its more like a gliding effect then when she is walking barefoot.. but yeah, there is definitely always some bouncing going on..

I think overall what's missing is everything above the legs not bouncing with each step taken. When one foot lands on the ground we sort of lean into that step before taking our other foot off the ground. I'm not sure if you applied this already, but either way you could emphasize it a bit more (and the to-be-added boob jiggle physics would probably come more into play ).

I'm not sure if what I say would be the correct advice though as I'm still learning animation too.

SaphireNishi In reply to AniDrewit [2013-02-16 23:47:36 +0000 UTC]

well i dont think there is a suppoe to be a bounce in the legs.. if there is then its showing on the hips.. not the legs.. look at this..

[link]

see no bounce on the legs..

AniDrewit In reply to SaphireNishi [2013-02-17 01:31:16 +0000 UTC]

That's what I'm saying. "Everything above the legs" as in the torso, arms, head, etc. Sorry I worded that badly

I think it's the hip movement, it stays to straight. When it reaches it's top (left or right) it should be a bit higher and rounder.
What I mean is that the forward leg drags the hip forward and up, while the hind leg drags it back and dow in two oval motions. One oval seen from the front and one from the side of the hip. At least that's my two cents.

SaphireNishi In reply to serget2 [2013-02-16 23:44:15 +0000 UTC]

im not sure if thats true.. i got a lot more rotation in the previous walk cycle, but i still have that dragging effect.. so i dont think its in the hips actually.. i think there is an acceleration in the leg when it moves forward.. and it slows down when its almost at if farest point, while here and in all the previous walk cycles its a very constant speed the legs have.. but im not sure..

serget2 In reply to SaphireNishi [2013-02-18 13:27:11 +0000 UTC]

Like I said it's just my two cents worth, since I'm not a 3d Animator, you probably know best.

My experience comes from a martial art called Aikido, where as every move is (for the lack of a better word) commanded by the hip, because the hip is the rotational center of the body. If i look at the girl walking I find her hip very static, especially around the belt loops, below it, the leg movement seems fine, but the hip isn't following.

But like I said, it's just some advice, seen from a different perspective. If you have a martial arts school near you, you might ask some advice from the Sensei (teacher).

totally looking awesome now, getting much closer to a natural movement sequence , however now i think its just the head that looks a bit stiff, but im not sure on how the head is meant to move lol XD really good your stuff is so amazing

thanks a lot.. yeah, the head is moving really weird.. its going from side to side and from front to back..

This is a really interesting series... each new picture gets that much closer to totally hitting it right on the nose. This is yet another major improvement, and you're doing very well. Question: Is the "wiggle" of the toes of the boots as each foot "takes weight" and the other foot lifts to move forward just a quibble of the program, or something you're also working on fixing? About the biggest "problem" I'm seeing in this one is that the feet are dragging a bit when they move forward, like she's forging her way through shin-deep snow.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

SaphireNishi In reply to Aftershock1 [2013-02-16 21:35:45 +0000 UTC]

thank yuo.. im not sure where the wiggling came from of the toes.. probably i messed up when fixing the foot and i did something to the toes.. i really have no idea.. but it pretty simple to fix it.. i just didnt see it in the preview so im not sure it showed up here.. the biggest problem is indeed the dragging idea you get when you look at this.. all the other walk cycles i did have it too.. im not sure where its coming from or why its doing it.. but its something im doing wrong every time..
