there is reallly only one glitch that really stands out to me and I have seen it in all of your walk cycles so far. I am told it is a common mistake so I wouldn't feel bad about it. Gods know I did it alot in school.
There is a tick in the walk cycle. your start and end frames of the cycle are the same position. So you effectively have her pausing for 2 frames in each cycle. the way around this is to make the last frame the position immediately before the first cycle wise. That way the last frame of the previous cycle flows into the first frame of the next.
I hope that made sense. It was something my 2d animation and 3d animation teachers used to nail me on alot. Aside from that. she is lookin great Saph. I am really impressed with your progress.

now can you make her walk nekkid. j/k couldn't resist.

well im actually doing that already from cycle one.. thats seem s pretty logical to remove the last and first frame otherwise you create a pause in you whole animation.. the problem is that the animation curve from the end to the beginng has a hard angle, and that creates a jerk effect when the loop starts over.. there is not really a good way to solve this in poser either.. at least.. i havent found it yet..

I see, that makes sense.
I am glad you were already aware of the cycle thing.
I haven't done and real animating in poser yet. But in other programs there is an ease in/out option in the curves editor. Could that help in this case, if such a thing exists in Poser?

it would definitely help.. but poser doesnt have that option at all.. we dont have a lot of option inside poser when it comes to animating.. we have a dope sheet and a the curve editor.. but within these two things we dont have any option at all to manipulate the curving what so ever.. so everything we do we have to setup by hand.. this has two sides, we really have to know what we are doing if we want to create a perfect animation, so thats really good for learning purposes, but for the workflow it would have been easier if we had a couple of option to work with, like ease in and ease out.. simple bezier handles would have been really nice too inside the curve editor.. but we have to do it without all these things...

I think we should start a petition so send to Smith Micro to include as a feature in the next version of the software. Dunno if they will listen or do it but it certainly never hurts.

i dont think that will work.. its not like they dont know options like these are missing.. i think they made a well balance choice with leaving things out cause now its software that is used by amateurs like you and me.. its still affordable for a very reasonable price.. if they make the software aimed to more experience and expert use then there is a price tag to it too.. and if they raise the price of the software, then i think they will lose a lot of there paying customers.. they already have DAZ to worry about which is giving their client away for free.. so they have to make a better client then daz has without making their software to complicated..

The bend in the knee should only occure at mid-stride, right now her full stride pose in not where it should be. both knees should be straight at full stride. If you can fix that, it should make the walk look more normal.
π: 0 β©: 1
SaphireNishi In reply to GabrielChoquette [2013-02-25 17:49:36 +0000 UTC]
actually bending of the knee is happening all the time.. its only a few frames where they are actually all straighten out.. if i would do what you say, then i end up with a robot walk again, just like how i started out with...

GabrielChoquette In reply to SaphireNishi [2013-02-25 18:08:48 +0000 UTC]
I respectfully dissagree. It's hard to explain but when saph is at full stride her back leg is bent, thus the root cause of the problem... take a look at this pic you will see what I mean: [link]
π: 0 β©: 1
SaphireNishi In reply to GabrielChoquette [2013-02-25 18:22:31 +0000 UTC]
hehe.. well exactly.. that pose is the only point of the whole walk cycle where the leg has no bend at all.. the rest of the walk cycle there is bending going on at the leg.. i know the center of mass in this animation is way to the back so that creates that short back step.. and thats not correct.. but the legs in a proper walk cycles are only straighten out at that last point.. unlike what you said that it should be straight in the mid-stride.. it kinda depends on what kind of walk you going for too tho.. i mean a military march walk is all about straighten legs.. so its all possible.. problem is making it believable on a 3d character..

Remarkable booty! Perhaps the walk is now so good, that one has time to reflect on all that is passing by. Nice exit!

The hands are oddly stiff and in a weird position...other than that and the hair, this is perfect! Shoulders are so great now, and the legs no longer look like she's marching! Every attempt is better than the last with you I sense that the next attempt or two of yours will find perfection
. Keep it up!
