Fascinating stuff. I'm guessing the Kingdom of Jerusalem becomes a predominately French-speaking state?

Carte fabriquΓ©e en Marseille, Royaume de France, MMXI?
France is a kingdom in 2011? Hmm... did the Revolution never happen in this timeline? Also, I see the crusaders destroyed the Dome of the Rock and replaced it with a church. That must have caused quite an angry reaction in the Muslim world. As in, a World War-scale event.

The POD is sometime in the middle ages, so there's much time for changes.
And I guess it's more a conversion than a destruction - the same what the Muslim did when they conquered the Christian territories.

Correct, the Templars converted the mosque into a church - this actually happened in real life. By 2011, most Muslims have long, long, long since accepted it (aside from a hard core of fanatics), somewhat like most Christians don't lose sleep over the fact that the Hagia Sophia is a museum.

Wow. I suppose Palestine's largely French by this point.

Because crusaders were a bunch of poor strategists and dipolamts?

Amazing map, quite different from your usuals ones, but just as good.
Just for correcting (if it is really an error)
Rue Tancred II -> Rue Tancrède
Avenue Stephen de la Ferete -> Avenue Etienne...

Ack! those mistakes can be blamed entirely on yours truly - I commissioned the map. In Tancred's case, I forgot to even look for the French spelling when I was thinking up street names. As for Stephen de la Ferte - that's a sheer mistake on my part. It should indeed be Etienne ([link] )

Okay
(by the way, Baldwin is Baudoin.
The names of Baldwin Bourg or Pointe-Baldwin are quite unadapted (it's feel more like french XVII america for the second)
Maybe "Montbeaudoin" and "Villeneuve-Baldovine" (from Baldovinus -> Baldovina)
"Parc Papal" is quite an anglicism, it should be "Parc Pontifical"
"Ecole militaire royale" is slightly more correct
Avenue "UrbaIn II"
"Basilique du Temple du Seigneur" "Basilique", in this sense, as quite the same significance than "Temple", it could be made as "Temple du Seigneur", or maybe more correctly "Temple de Notre Seigneur"
"Sainte Felicia" is supposed to be in this form, or it is "Sainte FΓ©licie" or "Sainte FΓ©licitΓ©"?
"Rue Fransiscain" should be liklely more "Rue des Fransiscains"
Just intending to help

Thanks much for the corrections. I feel especially shameful over Baldwin and Tancred.
As for basilica vs. temple, the former label was added to further Christianize it (not that it needed much after the Templars had finished converting it).

Thank you!
The client had all labels proof read, so I guess the names are correct for this TL.

This is certainly an intriguing piece. I wonder if it would finally become a peaceful place?
But this concept alone gives lots of questions about the course of history. Like: what about the city and the crusader state during the Ottoman period or the World Wars, or did it eventually become a French client state/colony, like inter-war and WWII mandate Syria?

Indeed, interesting possibilities.
