Description
A map of the city of Makkathran from the Void Trilogy by the great British sci-fi novelist Peter F. Hamilton ([link] )I used the general layout Judith Fell's ([link] ) map as base for this new map.
As I was told, PFH likes the map.

That is a great map one small constructive criticism if you lightened the colors slightly it would make the lettering much easier to read

Thanks for this! It's nice to have some persistent visual aids for such a monstrous volume. Great work.

Sapiento.. What did you use to make this? If it's GIMP can you do a little tutorial since I'm really stuck on to get started mapping cities... I wanna draw cities too!

I used Photoshop to do this. But I'm sure there are some tutorials for city mapping for GIMP.

Nah. Checked the site for tutorials. No luck. Maybe you could do one map in Photoshop in simple style that could be then easily translated to GIMP?

It is mainly shapes with attached textures, nothing too difficult. Go to www.cartographersguild.com, there are plenty of tutorials.

The general layout looks like a neonatal pacman.

Cool!
If there was one thing I feel missing from it, it would be proper avenues continuing from the gates into the city. As it stands now, it just seems as if the gates disappear into narrow streets.
I like the names. A mix of real-world references and some fictional ones.

Very cool. You've captured the concept that the city is a living organism. You should also think about making a map of the tunnels below the city, like a subway map.

Thank you!
It's been some time that I've read the books, I have only a faint memory of the tunnels.

the coast line appears a little bit too perfect...

There's not much information on how the coast looks, so I went for a straight and unspectacular design.
