------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

A custom typeface, designed from scratch by yours truly!
Sorry for all the rules, but I spent a lot of time and creative
energy coming up with this font, so it's close to my heart.

Essentially, it is a font I traced of my own fancy handwriting,
so it is even more unique than my previous font (which was
created in a builder via predefined shapes and grids). I made
it in Illustrator and stroked the lines with a custom calligraphy
brush that I edited and then used YourFonts.com to render a
TrueType version of it. Not too shabby of a conversion, either!
Oh, but sorry about the copyright symbol---I messed it up, lol.
In order to fix it, I would have to pay another $9.95 at YourFonts
for them to render it again and I really don't want to do that.

I'm only releasing this font on deviantART because I trust and
love you guys. Frankly, I'm afraid of the other people on the
internet abusing my font and not adhering to the copyright rules
I have in place. So use it wisely or I just might take it down!

If you have any questions/comments/concerns, just note me.
I do realize that the kerning is absolutely hideous, but that's not
under my control. I did my best with the tools that YourFonts
has, so you probably have to manually adjust the kerning yourself.

Thanks tons and bunches and leave a comment if you can!
I'd love to know what you guys think about my second font.

Designed in Illustrator CS4, rendered at YourFonts.com on June 13, 2010.

oh wow, font design. I could never do that. My hand writing sucks as it is.

It's so fun. The best thing about designing a font
off of your own handwriting is that you can choose to make
it better, so it doesn't matter if your penmanship sucks!

Thanks! I tried to make everything feel authentic,
like natural pen strokes but with some personal flare.

How have you been lately? Sorry I've been so MIA.

That's good to hear! I'm just now starting to enjoy summer;
I had a rough time of it in June and part of July, but now things
are looking up. Maybe I'll accomplish some art for myself, lol.

Duuude!!?? u used illustrator!!?? is this method easier than the one we used first semester last year? tell me if it is, cause its fun making them and even more fun when its easy >__<

I found it easier to make something pretty with Illustrator,
since FontStruct was like "Use our ugly geometric shapes, dammit!"
It was really easy and definitely fun, I really recommend doing
it like this. And it only cost about $10.00 to output to TrueType!

Haha, okay. It's pretty simple. Go to www.yourfonts.com and download their template.
You can either write on it by hand, or design the letters by hand in Illustrator and
place them on the template. When you're finished, scan it in or save it out as a .jpg
and upload it to their site. You get to test your font out before you buy, it's great!

Really, an illustrative font? So cool! What are you going

Wow!! I know that you would have been very careful and neat when making this font, but for it being based on your own handwriting, I am very jealous of your handwriting, lmao. I tried making a font out of my own writing once, but it turned out to be a complete and utter MESS, lmao. But, this makes me want to try over, lol.

Excellent work on this!!!! If I end up using it for anything, I certainly will show you

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

SaraChristensen In reply to Candrence [2010-06-14 21:44:30 +0000 UTC]

My handwriting is careful and neat naturally, I think it's
genetic because both my mom and my sister have great handwriting, lol.
I also blame my perfectionism. Years and years of saying "No! Do it better!" to myself.

Yes! You should totally try again! The site I did it through is pretty
amazing at converting it into a font, I don't think you can go wrong with them.

Thanks! I'm so glad you like it!!!
