I'm working on a birthday present for ~Xanrii and finished
the lines this morning, so I thought I'd post them here for others
to color. I don't often draw things in this style, but it's a heck of
a lot easier than realism. And it's kind of cute, lol. I like it.
Be proud of me: I used no references whatsoever. This came
straight from my head. It's pretty crazy... Therefore, I don't
need any critiques, please! I already know it's wonky. XD

Ok so could I do a giveaway or art trade? Tell me which one I can do.

I'm not sure what you mean... The only way you can use these lines outside of deviantART is to a) credit me on the image itself and b) not make a profit off of it (game money or real money).

I KNEW IT WAS CALLED A UNIPEG! Unicorn and the winged horse thingy, right?

I don't know, I made the name up. There's probably a better name for a unicorn-pegasus hybrid.

WolfLoverForever101 In reply to SaraChristensen [2011-05-10 22:55:44 +0000 UTC]
I'm pretty sure its called a Unipeg, i heard the name tossed around. ...... Hmmm.....
Horse: Horse
Unicorn: Horned Horse
Pegasus: Winged Horse
Unipeg: Horned, Winged, Horse.....
Yep pretty sure its a Unipeg!!

SaraChristensen In reply to WolfLoverForever101 [2011-05-10 23:28:55 +0000 UTC]
It's been tossed around alright, but it's not the official name for the hybrid.
I've also seen it called an Alicorn, which isn't technically right but still better
than Unipeg. I get how the name is constructed, it's just a really lame title IMHO.

I actually think it looks really cool! I feel that using references at times detracts from drawing truly freely and creatively...if that makes sense. I love to see what people draw straight from their own innovative minds .
Anyhow, well done and I look forward to seeing the coloured version. I'm certain it will be an awesome and loved gift!
π: 0 β©: 1
SaraChristensen In reply to AlastorAbatos [2009-06-18 07:05:45 +0000 UTC]
Thank you! And I completely agree.
Using a reference is like wearing a life jacket
in a swimming pool. You could do without it,
but at least this way you can't drown. I like
to take the life jacket off every now and then
so that I know I can still swim on my own.
Somehow, art feels better when it's creatively raw.
And you feel proud that it all came from the imagination.
I'll post the colored version as soon as I think of
a color scheme! Thanks so much for your
kind words. They always put a smile on my face!

I'm always at a loss for what to call these hybrid creatures o.O

Thanks muchly! I kind of enjoy trying things
without a reference every now and then, just to
make sure that I can still draw from scratch. lol
That's when you just make names up for them.
Like Unipeg. It's lame, but it works.

kittykittyhunter In reply to SaraChristensen [2009-06-18 00:27:26 +0000 UTC]
That's a good practice to have. You're very... disciplined with your artwork
It doesn't help that one's Latin and the other's Greek. I guess in those kind of circumstances, the language to turn to is French.
^^ It gets the point across
π: 0 β©: 1
SaraChristensen In reply to kittykittyhunter [2009-06-18 00:32:05 +0000 UTC]
lol, I try but I'm nowhere near as disciplined as I should be.
When all else fails, ask the French.

kittykittyhunter In reply to SaraChristensen [2009-06-18 00:40:53 +0000 UTC]
Well, loooking it up...
It's "corne" for horn, "cheval" for horse, and "ailes" for wings.
So where does that bring us?
π: 0 β©: 1
SaraChristensen In reply to kittykittyhunter [2009-06-18 01:09:07 +0000 UTC]
Cornevalailes? "cor-neh-vol-ails"
That's a bit too much for one silly animal.
