Description I think the best part about drawing this page was looking up early 1900â€ēs fashion. Oh man, the Lovecraftian anatomy in those old fashion illustrations. Golden.

Truly excellent reaction to the situation at hand, Jamie. Very articulate, all the awards xD

I think I'd feel really sad if I saw ghost children, too, Rob... I feel kinda sad, too...

I'd probably be more scared than sad, but the sadness will be explained on the next page

Well, I'd be more sad because that would likely mean they died as children. Dying so young is really sad to me. Fear would come second, but I'd have more sadness for the deceased children than fear.

I mean, some ghosts are the "soul" of the person, "soul" meaning they became a ghost befitting their form of how they are inside (meaning an old man could die but his ghost is a child if he was an inner child), rather than the traditional concept of a soul-ghost, where they look like they did when they died. Still others believe ghosts are not souls at all. Still more believe ghosts occur because the spirit of the person has unfinished business. It's just how you interpret it. I mostly use the Harry Potter methodology, since it was my first encounter with ghosts; simplified, it seems to be that only those who do not fear death get a choice, the rest have a very good chance of becoming ghosts. They are the "imprints of departed souls" (OotP).

So the way I see it, or my guess rather, is these kids were murdered while playing and I am presently calling them Hansel and Gretel. Or just Hans and Greta. Either or. I prefer Hans and Gretel. Anyway, they were murdered (and so was their ball) and they are either forever trapped in eternal playtime, or have learned to enjoy themselves in death... after being murdered by their parents.

That or they followed a trail to a candy house and were eaten by a witch. But no matter how I put it, it's kinda sad for children who don't look yet 10 to die.
