Description I know I just uploaded one like a week ago, but this one looks so much better! Also, I joined a couple of desktop customization groups that I want to submit to but I wanted the latest and greatest. So, anyway.
I'm currently using Crunchbang Linux, but I am going to be switching soon because the project has been sort of moved out of active development and I am having trouble getting the latest software to run on it without dependency issues. I am going to go with Arch since the rolling-release schedule is appealing, not sure about DE, probably lxde/openbox but maybe xfce.

Okay, weird rant over. Anyway, on to the specs...

distro: crunchbang linux 9.04 lite (x64)
openbox theme: mookid for openbox
gtk+ theme: mookid
icons: allgrey, also the folder icon was stolen from area-linux and the pidgin icons came with the mookid gtk theme
font: sans
wall: [link]
tint2: self-made
conky: self made, with props to arpinux, londonali, and some guy named iggykoopa. Also, I'd like to thank my mother and... oh never mind.

apps: tint2, conky, pidgin, sonata

Good screenshot. Can you tell me your xcompmgr command to make that shadows?

xcompmgr -c -t-5 -l-5 -r4.2 -o.55 &
If you add it to your xinitrc, make sure it's at the very top- running some things (like conky) before the compositing window manager makes weird stuff happen. ^^

Ah, apologies, looking at that, it should be
xcompmgr -c -t-5 -l-5 -r4.2 -o.55
Without the ampersand. I had pulled it from my xinitrc and... ah never mind.

Tint2 and conky configs will eventually be posted- I have changed some of them so I have to go back and un-scrapify the versions sitting around in my gui folder. ^^
Aaand, maybe an Arch screenshot soon. I am still fiddling with it, but my layout right now is SUPER minimalistic, might be kind of boring to look at.

nice shot!

how can crunchbang be outdated though? i thought it was just ubuntu with OB preinstalled? doesn't it use ubuntu repos, and therefore should be up to date?

anyways.. i can really recommend arch if you're looking for a distro as minimalistic as your WM of choice and rolling release is a biiig plus, i love it and don't want to go back again.. you could also try debian's sid branch, it's really not as unstable as they call it.

Thanks!
Yeah, it seems weird that it would start to get outdated but there is no karmic release, and crunchbang does have some specialized packages that make it run better with Openbox. I have the option of using a hack and attempting to force it to switch to karmic repos but I am pretty sure bad things will happen that I do not want to deal with. I could also install Karmic minimal and openbox on top of it, but if I am going to do a reinstall I might as well just go with Arch, which is actually what I wanted to begin with but ended up going w/ Crunchbang because it was easier.
I had considered sidux, yeah. But the amount of packages available for Arch is just so much greater... sigh. I am going to install this weekend, pretty excited about it!

Well, good luck with Arch then.. Let me tell you, though, it's a good thing to have a printout of the installation manual handy when you're doing it. I needed it

Haha, I plan to have my other computer sitting right there for installation manual display and on-the-fly google consultations!

The Area Linux icon set is awesome. ^^

I've also loved the mookid GTK in the past. It's one of the only light-coloured themes I can stand looking at. XD

Indeed, the set I found did not have the same amount of icons as the one I saw you using, but all I really wanted was that weird leafy one. I think it looks nifty as a folder icon, and I can change it to match my color scheme. Score!
