Description
This is my 9th (?) piece for my AP concentration on bugs, so this is a snail about to be squashed by a foot. No animals were harmed : )This is ink painting and gesso on grey paper.
I'm not sure if I'm done yet, so if you have any critiques at all, I'd love to hear them!!

wow, you should try more crush snails, their are thousands of them and it feels cool to hear them crush under your thigh boot and i have crushed a few in rinna style thigh boots leather knee crush, you should try to draw something like that as well.

I was going to initially draw a crushed snail, but I couldn't bring myself to purposefully smoosh one

well it started with me wanting to draw a crushed snail, but I didn't want to squish one just to get a reference pic, so I decided I would have an impending shoe. Plus, there's this video that shows a snail getting squished super slow motion by a hammer and its just AWFUL. like, terrible. So I was sortof getting at the fragility and beauty of a snail and how easily that is taken away.

Squished snails look terrible, I don't even want to imagine what the process would look like in slow motion

wow! I really like the angle and also the clear crisp lines. I know from experience that it's hard to do that with ink! using gesso for the highlights and such is also a very good idea! Well done!

thanks! I kept the ink pretty controlled for this piece, not too much water, though it was hard some times.

I love this picture, and after reading the other comments, am excited to see what the addition of the "foreboding shadow" over and around the snail will add in emotional content.
