Description Hallowe'en came a bit early for me, apparently.

Actually no. I wasn't even really thinking about what month it was when I thought of it. I went to the bookstore yesterday, met a nice English bloke from Bristol who was in Korea to teach some kids some English and he couldn't speak Korean that well so I tried to help him as much as I could. It got me missing the ability to talk to people without getting that annoying condescending look at any rate. So now I'm more lonely than usual and depressed.

Anyway, not the point, the point is that I bought five books and one of them was Sherlock Holmes. I'd read Hound of the Baskervilles and The Speckled Band, but I decided, what the hell, it's bloody Sherlock Holmes and I'm going to buy a volume. Unfortunately (for some ridiculous reason) they didn't have Alice in Wonderland. Those bastards.

This came into my mind because they're our modern Sherlock and Watson, wouldn't you say? Except perhaps the shippy bit, unless Holmes and Watson were having some gay sex romp off camera. (Visual picture not wanted, thanks anyway, slashers.)

That's just how I picture Watson, I'm afraid. Large mustache, bowler hat and a portly fellow, and it was more funny to draw Rose like that instead of normally.

I can't draw today. You might as well put a crayon in my hand and reverted me back to eight years old, damnit.

Oh wow, now you've got me wanting to see Mr Tennant play Holmes It'd be nice to have a TV series or film that I'd actually like. I can't stand any of the ones I've seen so far, usually because they usually make Watson an idiot - when he's obviously not!

We have a Holmes exhibition on at our local museum and Stephen Fry narrates one of the stories as you walk around which is cool

I actually haven't seen any of Holmes' stories acted out. It was one of those books and stories that I love too much to have it destroyed by watching some asshead trying to live up to it, combined with horrible writing of someone who's obviously barely skimmed the first few pages.

Admittedly, I did just realise (by reading A Study in Scarlet) that Watson actually isn't overweight and actually probably a fit man who's been in the sodding army for the past few years. As a doctor, but in the army no less. I feel kind of stupid now and a bit ashamed that I got the description of Watson all wrong.

But, all over now. I'm going to go watch Mock the Week and then finish A Study in Scarlet

Actually, the Granada series, with Jeremy Brett as Holmes, does pretty well. Just throwing that out there.

XD I live this picture. Rose looks so... "Not Amused."

It is one of those books that's become so popularised that everyone has a fixed perception of the characters without even picking up the book - sort of like how Disney has completely kidnapped Winnie the Pooh. I hate how films can do that to books. I was not impressed with the first few Harry Potter films to put it mildly .

You shouldn't feel stupid because that is how Watson's portrayed in 90% of all Holmes things! You should just feel proud that you know he isn't Though he does become more 'ortly' as the books progress - but I have difficulty picturing him as actually fat. The one film I've seen that I can remember being faithful to that is Hound of the Baskervilles with Richard E Grant in it - but unfortunately have only seen it once and that was before I'd read the book - so it may not be as faithful to the story as it is to the characters.

I want to watch Mock the Week now! But someone took it off youtube!

Wish we knew what the good ol' Doc was saying. (Love Rose's expression, and the mustache, and Ten's expression too.) Oh, and I was always under the impression that that was EXACTLY what Watson looked like. Well done!

Wonderful ^_^ Two of my favorite fictional men, at the moment The Doctor and Holmes ^.^
Rose is adoreable as Watson And they do fit Holmes and Watson quite well, i've been reading the stories recently, ironicly enough.

Don't.. even...

Keep those ideas away from me. I don't need to think about gay relationship about two intelligent men I've been reading about since I was 5. It's wrong.

xD You gotta love how even in fandom all of the getups he puts her in end up getting him a threat on his life/an "I hate you" remark. Love the expression, and Watson!Rose's mustache is love.
