Description
I MAKE CREATIVE TITLES, LOLZ.I love Mickey. XD Is he coming back for S4? Who knows.
I think he was the one the Doctor rubbed off on.
Eh, it's one of those comics where I thought it would be brilliant, then 3 days later, after I drew half the panels, I went "eh".
There was going to be a 5th panel where the Slitheen asks her if he/she/it should be offended, but I was lazy and I can't draw animals.
This is actually a reference to a sort of pet peeve of mine that occurs a lot in reunion fics. Rose getting a job in Torchwood because of her knowledge of the "outer worlds".
People obviously don't understand the concept of ALTERNATE UNIVERSES. Alternate Universes can be anything. In one universe, the Doctor could be real. In another, he could be a pineapple with sunglasses on. In Rose's universe, there could, in fact, be a completely different definition for "slimy" altogether. It could mean furry and cute, or hard and invulnerable. It could be absolutely anything from the smallest detail to the most ridiculous thing ever. The Earth could have been made out of green cheese.
I, in my own personal opinion, believe that there is an alternate Doctor, because Torchwood was founded because of the Doctor in 187... whatever (I haven't watched S2 in ages, sorry.) because of him and it was essentially named after him too (Anagrams, yay). Anyway, that's my logic, although my friend Nelly always likes to prove me wrong on my theories. (Foolish non-shipper. *sulks*)
What was I talking about? Oh yeah.
It is wholly illogical for Rose to have been requited into Torchwood because of her "knowledge of outer worlds." The Doctor himself has not been to every single planet in the galaxy, that would be impossible. They're like human lives on Earth. Every second, one planet is being created and another dies. Even with 900 years behind him, I don't think he's covered a good fraction of the universe and Rose has definitely not seen as much. So the chances of her seeing something or someone that she's seen before is highly improbable... and that coupled with the fact that she's in an ALTERNATE UNIVERSE narrows her knowledge down to practically nothing.
I believe Rose got into Torchwood because of her dad and Mickey, and while you might think that that's degrading, I also believe that she contributes tons to the institute. Rose is a very good thinker and she is (as exemplified in the Impossible Planet and Satan Pit) an extremely good leader.
So take that, 75% of the reunion fics I've ever read! Even though I've liked about 90% of you!
WOO FOR IMPOSSIBLY LONG RANTS I JUST CAN'T SHUT UP FROM. WOO FOR ALTERNATE UNIVERSES WHERE GEORGE BUSH IS A COMPETENT PRESIDENT AND THE EARTH IS MADE OUT OF DELICIOUS CHOCOLATE. WITH RICE. AND WHERE GORDON BROWN IS A VOICE ACTOR INSTEAD OF PRIME MINISTER.
(Seriously. He sounds like an evil villain. Darth Vader, without the wheezing.)
And no. In my mind, Rose is not bursting out into tears every time she hears the Doctor's name and jokes about him often.

I would like to think that Rose is fantastic at feild work and a quick learner so that she can actually learn about the species there. Also that the BadWolf puts a TARDIS translater in her head permenantly. Again with the clever reason

I always thought of the alternate universe that Rose was in was fairly similar to our universe/the universe she left from. Basically the only difference was that some people wereΒ alive in one universe and dead inΒ another or inΒ Rose's caseΒ was neverΒ even born in the alternate world.Β and the whole Cyberman event. That's how Jackie, Rose and Mickey were able to adjust so easily because it was so similar to their own universe. Jackie accepted and fell in love with an alternate version of her husband so he was probably pretty similar to her own husband who had died. Just my opinion, some alternate universes are probably completely different but Pete's world seemed pretty similar to their own universe.

I'm going to have to disagree with you on the 'Good thinker' thing. Almost all of Rose's decisions have been wrong. She tends to be fairly stupid, actually.

That Slitheen... looks like a da'kor.
Been reading too much Inverloch lately.
Anyways. I totally agree about the Alt!Nine. In fact, I'm writing a fanfic with Alt!Nine. And Time Lords and Gallifrey, because I seem to be obsessed with them.
I... just can't see Rose working for Torchwood. Because Rose, for all her guts and 'oh-so-human-ness' and 'OMG, Doctor's soulmate!' is not very smart or motivated. She is, in fact, a slacker. What was she doing before she met the Doc? Working in a shop because she'd dropped out of high school. What was her reaction upon meeting 90% of the aliens? 'OMG, ALIENS!' Martha, I can see her working for Torchwood. Rose? Nah.
Please don't hate me for saying that. It's just my cynical side. I totally respect Rose fans. And I love your art, you're hilarious (and cynical like me)!

I could see Rose working for Torchwood.
It's true that she was a slacker before she met the Doctor, but isn't that the frickin' point? That she changed? I mean look at the Satan's Pit. She totally got those asses moving and stuff.
And yeah, I like Rose better than Martha. If Rose is like "OMG Doctor's soulmate!" which... she wasn't... really. Then Martha is "OMG, the Doctor doesn't love me!! *SOB*" Which she wasn't.
And her reaction was not always "OMG Alienz!" What about in Tooth and Claw when she tried talking to something she KNEW wasn't from Earth? Or how about trying to make conversation with an Ood? Thinking that their slavery was wrong? Asking the Doctor to save Cassandra when she almost killed them all? Rose was perfectly competent and for the love of god, it's not like meeting an alien isn't a harrowing experience. Would you want a cat as your nurse? I would be pretty damn freaked out by that.
And I'm not saying Martha wasn't calm either. She was.
Please don't hate me for ranting. It's just my logical side. -___-

I think Rose got into Torchwood the same sort of way that Gwen did. Gwen was just in the wrong place at the wrong time, and handled it well. Rose has good experience with that sort of thing.

Really good comic. Even though I don't really get it.
But I agree with you on the ranting part. Smart thinking! . . .

Since Alternate Universes can make anything ANYTHING, in Rose's universe, Slitheens could be cats or dogs or trees etc.

Here's something not-funny-and-you-probably-wont-care-about: being the loner (and lunatic) that I am, I clicked onto this dev whilst singing along to one of Panic! At The Disco's songs and said sarcastic (out of "Just for the record, the weather today is slightly sarcastic with good chance of ...") just as I read your name.
I repeat, I am both a lunatic and a loner. Which is why I am alone in my room on a friday night. Not that I want to go to a party, or be with people in general. I will now stop rambling.
Very funny ^^

Awwww...I want a Kitty!Slitheen! (But is it really a kitty, or does it have a zip in its forehead?)
And what does it say when I hear the Doctor's voice in my head for panel three instead of Rose's?

Russel says theres no alt Time Lords, not that there is no alt Doctor. My pet theory is that Pete's World Torchwood was created in reaction to Dr. Who a.k.a the Cushing Doctor a.k.a The Dalek Film Doctor . Only problem with this theory is the lack of shippiness because Dr. Who isn't all that shippable... plus if Rose married him she'd be Rose Who, which just looks silly.

She could just choose to keep her last name.
I think there's an alt!Nine. I don't care what RTD says about no alt!Time Lords. In the world of alternate universes, there could be a world with alt!Time Lords.
There could also be an alternate universe with no alternate universes, but that's a paradox, no one likes to think about those.

alt!Nine is probably Claude or something.

I personally think she was hired to Torchwood because 1) She'll stand up to an alien threatening death and poke him in the eye (or knee him in the nether regions-even if she has no idea where he's from 2) As you said, during crises situations, when everyone else flails and runs around screaming when alarm bells go off, she'll stand on a desk and make folks listen to her and get them sorted.
It's 1879, by the way, and the reason some folks say there isn't an alt!Doc is because Russel said there isn't in an interview after season 2. But he has been known to lie.

Well how was Torchwood founded if there wasn't an alt!Doc?
Stop ruining my hopes, RTD!
I like to think there's an Alt!Doc for her if he doesn't go back.

Now I feel bad for recruiting Rose into Torchwood for her knowledge of outer worlds.
Although in my defense, it was more about her being the boss's daughter. And also she's now quit. And it wasn't a reunion fic...
I'll stop talking now.

Yeah...that's understandable. After all I didn't tell you. I have a tendency to ramble. The gist of it is, I wrote a fanfic about Rose, where she joined Torchwood because of her knowledge of outer worlds. But I see your point, she actually doesn't know much. :S
