I think it's a fascinating topic to discuss the first time hearing your favorite characters speak for the very first time after spending time seeing in them muted during the retro days, and I think Mario; for me, was something of a magical one.

I do remember playing the old Mario games very much, mainly SMW, and I did watch the cartoons but at the time those were dubbed into my native language, so it was pretty basic, until I first tried Super Mario 64, a game that'll change me forever both as a gamer and as a Mario fan.
I guess it's no exception that the game enjoyed a widespread of success among the players, but what was actually cool to hear...is Mario talking, yup from the moment you boot up the game you're greeted with "It's-a-me, Mario!" and from there, it's nothing but pure voice of what Mario's personality is and has been about, a joyful Italian plumber who just dreams of spaghetti xD

Charles Martinet has been THE definitive voice of Mario for years, and with today's news that he's leaving behind the character, I'm both heartbroken and happy for him.
As many has seen, it is a decision he made, to fulfill his dream to spread happiness and joy to every Mario fan out there, and I'm more excited than ever there's a chance some of you might meet him and enjoy his company!
But on the gaming side, it's gonna be really hard to accept a new voice direction for Mario once Wonder is out, cuz it ain't another Sonic situation were it's ok to hear a different or Batman with different actors, Mario and Charles have been a stable mark on the Nintendo brand, and taking that out, kinda make it...well...broken.

I trust Nintendo would try and replicate Charles' energized and joyful personality into the future games and maintain that Mario vibe for years.

With that said, Thank You Martinet for making my childhood as joyful as ever, and until then.....
