Description
More light angles and colour practice! It looks simple but took bloody ages.La sisters Tremaine! This picture was inspired one hundred per cent by the third movie. Although I did watch the first one while I drew Cindy. If you've seen the third one this might make a little more sense. I tried to draw each of them with the expression that suits them best over the course of the movie and the colour choices seem pretty obvious. The light angles were chosen deliberately too. Drizella has the typical evil from below light, Anastasia has the spotlight cast on her through most of the movie so I did lighting from above. Cinderella was tricky. She was in the dark for part of the film and spent most of it trying to get back where she was supposed to be so I kind of went for this half-light, emerging kind of thing. If that makes sense.
Let's pretend Cinderella II never happened.
The Cinderella movies are wonderful. I mean, the first one just goes without saying. I adored it when I was a little girl. It was my favourite movie for a time and I'd watch it again and again. How can you not smile at the little mice-mice?
And then they made Cinderella III and I was just so happy with Disney! I adore Jennifer Hale so casting her won them brownie points right away XD I think she did a wonderful job. The music was pretty and fitting and oh-so Disney. In fact it reminded me of all the golden movies they released in the '90s. You know, like Hercules, Beauty and the Beast etc. The animation was also gorgeous.
What made me love it was it looked just like the animation style in the first movie. The colours, the eyelashes, the hair, the movement etc. Whereas the second one looked a lot more like the cheap and tacky Disney Princess Brand Cindy.
And the storyline was fantastic. You can argue with me if you like but I love it XD Particularly the emerging personalities of the Tremaines. Cinderella was lovely and bold as usual. The development of Anastasia was more gradual and believable than the second film where she converted to Cindy's BFF with a click of her fingers.
Ok. I'm done rambling now XD Any comments, critiques etc are appreciated.

Wow--this is amazing. Drizella looks like she came from Hell, Anastasia looks tragic, and CInderella looks soft and gentle. Good use of color.

WHY DO YOU KEEP STUFFING ME WITH NOSTALGIA. DINDAMMIT
I love how different they look; with Drizella looking all evil and menacing, Anastasia looking disgusted; scared, even, and then Cinderella being all serene and calm. It's a beautiful contrast, and the colors look great, too. They really match the emotions you're going for here. And of course, the lighting.
Great job, babe~

Not exactly sure if this comment would be counted as a critique...but at any rate...

I agree with you one hundred percent! The first two movies were probably my favorite childhood movies. I loved the animation and the storyline for both; both had a very Disney-esque plot line, where the damsel-in-distress gets her man, regardless if she's royal or pauper. Anastasia's character was so well developed in the second movie, because she was an almost flawed character; meaning that she was torn between following her heart, or following in her evil mother's footsteps. The third movie is probably my favorite of the trilogy, because I love how Disney took the plot-lines of their own movies, and said to each other, "Hey! What do you think would happen, if we took the plots of these two movies, and turned them around? Supposing Cinderella never met her prince, and Lady Tremaine won, rather than Cinderella? What if there was no fairy godmother, just the Tremaine girls, and a magic wand?" I think that was awesome thinking on their part...Go Disney!!

And excellent work on the picture, by the way. I love the lighting on Anastasia. It really depicts her character well!

Although I can't give much of a crtique; all I see is a great piece. You captured Drizella and Cinderella's expressions spot on. Anatasia looks a bit creepy but I think that's the point.
Seriously I hated Cinderella 2, they made it like a cheesy princess adventures movie. Cinderella 3 was brillant, I knew I was going to love it the second I saw the music video featuring lots of prince Charming scenes who sadly was kind of one dimensional in the first film. The plot was unique; The art of 3 was so much like the original that it while watching it I was bursting with noglistic thoughts of Disney's good days. I agree wth you it should have been released in theatres. Under Cinderella: A Twist in Time that way the sequel could be easier to forget or newbies wouldn't bother looking it up.

Sorry for the late reply! D=
Thank you very much for the lovely comment. I hoped to get both stepsisters looking creepy because of their nature in the first one but unfortunately, Cinderella came out looking creepiest of all XD
I'm so glad you agree. I share all of your opinions that you stated there absolutely.

No problem
Cinderella for me doesn't look creepy lol A revenge taker yeah but not creepy lol
It's amazing on how even the cover of 3, and the trailer was perfect too. That movie is so underrated.

Yes. Let's pretend the second movie never happened shall we? But I agree with you. Cinderella III was amazing! Disney could've released that film in theaters actually.
I love your art piece. The light angles look amazing and their expressions are very appropriate for the film. This is such a wonderful piece!

I agree. They should have done or it wouldn't have all the stigma for being a direct-to-DVD sequel that the Disney ones tend to get. It was definitely worthy of a theatre release <3 Dunno why they didn't, it was a brilliant film. Especially the development of Princey XD
Thank you so much ^^ I'm really glad you think so!

This is beautiful, but I disagree with how you said it looks "simple"- it doesn't look simple at all! As someone who has only just realised how infuriatingly long shading can be (I just purchased a graphics tablet) I can see how much time and effort has gone into this. Seriously well done! I particularly love the way you've done the eyelashes on Cindy- I don't know why. You should try drawing in this style using superheroes- I bet the result would be fantastic!
I hope this drawing gets TONS of faves and comments- it deserves it Sorry for the ramble- I tend to get overly enthusiastic when I see drawings I like XD
Keep up the good work!!!!

Thank you so much for the lovely comment, the fave and the watch! You know, it's good that you're looking at things that way, seeing the details in shading and highlights. You'll go far XD Good luck with getting used to your tablet! I don't even know you but I'm excited for you. Experimenting with your tablet is so much fun. My tablet was the best purchase I ever made. It opens up so many doors for you as an artist! Pressure sensitivity is like the best thing ever XD Anyway, thank you for your comment ^^ It's really sweet of you to mention the eyelashes as I always worry about them. I don't think I'm very good at them XD Superheroes? Interesting idea. Who did you have in mind? And thanks XD It would be lovely to get loads of faves and comments but that doesn't happen too often. Don't apologise for rambling. Rambly comments are always the best ones XD Thanks again!

Thank you for saying I'll go far! (^_^) I'll certainly do my best! You shouldn't worry too much about eyelashes and stuff, it's obvious you're talented and put in a lot of hard work. What I've come to realise is its not enough to have talent when it comes to things like art- you have to put in load of effort too and you seem to be doing that so *major thumbs up*
As for the style of this drawing, the whole lighting and shading just reminded me of graphic novels so I just in my head automatically went to superheroes. Like how the Fantastic Four posters always seem to be drawn with blue tones (god I'm such a geek! Haha!)I think you'd be really good at making your own fan-posters for things
Good luck!!!
