Description Ah, I was talking to a few folks a while back about figure drawing--something about drawing from life or something. These are some drawings I did in like... January-ish? Done in sharpie marker on 36in by 24in newsprint from live models.

The key, I think, is to draw quickly, and focus on the curves of the body, and it's major arches--> spine, shoulders, hips. Also, drawing quickly helps. Make sure you do a loose--gestural--drawing before you start making things perfect. Don't work one area at a time. Work the whole image. You don't want to spend an hour on a foot and find out it's ten times larger than it was supposed be compared to the other body parts.

Yeah, my drawings from real life a much better than my anime drawings >> I know. Drawing realistically from life or photos just... bores me XD It's not particularly difficult once you know the tricks ^^ Maybe, one day, I shall make a tutorial explaining how to draw anything from real life...

wow! those came out really nice! i love the look of sketches...i try to be loose, but i'm usually tense when i draw x_X
i discovered that drawing fast and less basically really does improve art...and i found my class where we do still life drawings was so much easier than my animation class XD; drawing from life and photos bores me too...

Thanks.

Heheh, I'm usually have to trick myself into being loose. LOL, I want everything to be perfect right away XD

Animation class sounds so fun. I've always thought animators were such talented artist... Sadly, they don't have animation class at my university. Though I am trying to teach myself some.

Animation is tons of fun <3 I don't have animation at my university either, so I transferred this summer to study outside of where I am. It was totally worth it~And you should consider it, you're really talented!

Thank ye. I've always wanted my work to be described as "bitchin"

I loved my figure drawing class, even if they didn't actually teach me how the body goes together XD I love drawing people. I highly recommend it.

Wow, those are really nice.
I was I was that good at figure drawing.
I've tried real life drawings of people before and they always turn out too blocky. haha. I'm such a slow artist.

Why thank you ^^

Yeah, I'd suggest not worrying to much about getting the first marks 100% correct... I tend to draw light so usually I don't care so much about the marks I begin with... as they can always be erased.

I wish my anime drawings were this fast =__=

Thank ya.
Yeah, my teacher made us do gesture drawings only for the first few weeks we were in class... so this is all we did for the whole semester ^^
