Description
Second drawing in the 100 theme challenge, hate, a force that blinds.----
Update of the previous version, which was deleted...Ah, yeah. Don't really have anything to say about this one. Just that it looks a bit better than my other one, so I'm satisfied. Oh, and the guy's name is Sparrow....yeah.
Next theme is shame and then pleasure...
Sketched out in Photoshop CS2, Coloring and lineart in Painter IX.

Wow, I like this. Very interesting. It's almost as if Hate is either blindfolding him to truth or unblindfolding him so that he can see it.

Um, just taking a guess...but I'm gonna say that "hate" is invisible to him?

I love the eyes of 'hate'. It's really well done. I'm new to deviant, and this is the first piece I have commented on. =]

I really like the contrast between the two characters. I also like the way you didn't color the girl. bravo

It's REALLY interesting that you made it white.
I wouldn't have done hate with white, but it's so appropriate now that I think about it.
This is really beautiful

Heh, that's an interesting observation. I suppose the automatic association would have been black but white was the color that came to me
I'm quite pleased that you enjoy it. Thanks very much

this looks awesome. i love how the hair is b/w while the face is full color. it gives a nice little contrast, in a way.
in the same way as the girl behind is only in lines vs the filled out man infront of her.
your hair looks so cool, great job. love the color, lines, hair, and the idea . its great

Bitchin' Contrast! I love it when a girl wants to tie me .... I mean... ahh....
Seriously though I got a cold shiver when I saw this, It reminds me of one
of my ghosts, taking someone unaware.
ONLY critique I can think of: The Eyes
The eyes of the background girl I feel should be in a fit of malice, or anger
(because) the drawing is based on hatred after all. I just don't get that feeling
from her. If you redid the eyes, I could call this a perfect 10.

Heheh. Thank you.
Oh, and thanks for telling about the eyes. You're completely right, and I'm quite surprised no one else has mentioned it. I think I'll revisit this again in a few days and fix it...

I like the contrast between the two characters. Interesting way to do it. Did you vector the line-art in this one? It looks so clean
The girls hands are my favorite part ^_^.

No, I didn't use vectors for the linework, though painter is supposed to have vectors you can trace over... I just used my tablet. ^___^
I'm glad to hear you like the hands OH, thanks for the fav as well ^____^

Yeah, I actually tried using painters vector tool when I was detailing the headband for my portrait painting, it wasn't giving me the freedom I wanted, and I can't find any way to create variety in the line weight, so I just went back to the detail brush. I don't think vectoring is for me.
No problem ^_^

At first I thought the uncoloured girl suggested that this piece was unfinished, 'till I realised it was. I'm not sure why, but there's something about her discoloured-ness that seems to feel incomplete... Maybe she could benefit from a light diffusion of a colour most associated with anger? Maybe that's just my fickleness...
However, the symbolism is vey clear, and very true. Congrats on excecuting it, I really like the wisps of white hair strands. Kudos to you =3

Thank you very much. Some others said they thought is was unfinished, so you're not alone in thinking so. I tried to add some subtle coloring to it in when I orginally colored this, but it didn't feel "right" to me, so all the color got thrown out ^^ Though I think the lack of color adds to the idea that she doesn't physically exist... I may try to revisit this later with fresh ideas.
