He wouldn't let her help him on their trek back through the underground tunnels, and she was surprised that he wasn't hollering at her. Surely any minute he would turn and snap at her, berate her for following him to the surface against his wishes. She waited for this on their awkwardly silent venture.

And waited.

Finally, they emerged in the mild lighting from both a naturally occurring blue moss and complimenting installed lights, and he turned on her.

"Two."

Here it was coming, she was sure. She braced herself and returned, tentatively: "Yes..?"

He drew his hand from his side, slowly, and it came up slick with his life-supporting purple fluid. "You'll tape this up for me, won't you?"

She bolted almost before she could say "Of course!"

She came back with bandages, helped him take off his jacket, and as she did as he asked, she blurted, suddenly: "I'm sorry, I was such a burden."

He didn't respond.

Her face flushed a little, and she stared ardently at her bandaging job. "If I hadn't come..."

"It's okay," he muttered. "You helped, it was appreciated."

"Hardly. If I hadn't got snatched by that demon, you wouldn't have flipped out and got your inhibitor torn off."

He shrugged a little "True."

MS2 winced. "You probably could have taken care of it yourself.. but you were taking so long and I was worried..."

He nodded. "Were I you, I wouldn't blame yourself for my 'flipping out'."

She had finished, so RK slipped down to sit on the floor. He glanced down at his aching left arm which lay limp at his side, reminded of the awful surge of red chaos energy that had overloaded and blown the cuff off.

MS2 sat down next to him. "Gonna be okay?"

He nodded.

"I don't ever want to lose you," she murmured.

"Likewise," he answered, and abruptly kicked his feet out to the side and layed down with his head on her lap. He closed his eyes and added, "You're all I have."

MS2 felt the worried frown creep on the corners of her mouth. She rested a hand on his head and rubbed gently. "You can yell at me later."
