Well, being a child, they believed humans were evil.
Though if you wanna draw "not cute" things, how about you show a different perspective to genocide? Imagine Frisk being the one who wanted to kill, while Chara's limping knees, the black goo of LV suffocating them and drowning them as they beg Frisk to stop until it takes over their sanity, while the 8th human grins saying "They'll blame you, anyway. They always do. Even your little brother prefers me over a "demon". And even if you would kill me, I'll just reset and pretend to be the hero they see in me. And there's nothing you can do to change it." Just an idea on how I see Genocide Frisk/Player.

I'm now even more determined to do Chara JUSTICE, as the dog food bag is the key evidence. Why? Chara only says it's "half-full" in pacifist. Let that sink.

Did I miss something...? I have done all three of the main endings, and I don't really see how Chara could be considered "innocent". Neutral, maybe, but not innocent. I mean, she did hate humanity and wanted to re-ignite the war. I could see it being possible that she did genuinely care about monsters in general and Asriel in particular, but I could also see just as easily that she just used them as a means to an end. And certainly when given the chance after her plan failed, she doesn't hesitate to take revenge...

Objection. Chara hated humanity for a reason. There's evidence that show they have been abused (not to mention, humans have massacred the monsters without warning or any mercy in the past). Also, she planned to gather 6 souls with Asriel so they both would free monsterkind. It was never said they wanted to start a war. Not to mention, she was suicidal, she didn't expect to survive the fall and many sharp objects were removed in Home. You may want to check this.
