Sure, we can't justify murder. But considering they find humans to be evil (let's be honest, humanity slaughtered so many monsters, young and old, then robbed them their freedom), you can understand how they feel.

You'd think that Chara being such a sweet kid (at least in the eyes of their family) would have changed the monsters' view on humanity. Then again, they never told Asriel why they climbed Mt. Ebott. Maybe the Dreemurrs were just too discreet to dig any further...
Either way, they must have guessed that humans treated their child like crap. I guess they thought of Chara as more monster than human.

2 bad if you think frisk is the " sweet oh lovely child " and chara is a monster after doing such sacrafice but sadly failing for her family yet people make " demon fan art" of her. there are already lots of charaΒ protection squad groups on devianart and chara supporters. Theres also good theories on who's the true villanΒ on youtube.

Yeah, I've already seen those (that woman's voice is honestly hypnotizing). But I think that both Chara's and Frisk's nature is intentionally left in the dark, with only some hint's given.
I mean, at the end you can't even say for sure who you're playing as, right? Are you Frisk, a child who has the power to reset and can become corrupted by that power, to the point that the ghost of Chara takes over? Or are you playing as Chara, the one YOU name, controlling Frisk from the shadows and releasing them into freedom at the end... or taking them over while losing control of yourself, depending on what route you play?
Honestly, I think the latter is possible too.

Objection. Asriel WAS told why Chara climbed the mountain. Suicide. Flowey confirmed that when he once "followed in Chara's footsteps" by "erasing himseof from existence". Many times it was hinted that Chara tried to commit it again (removed sharp objects in Home, mummy wrappings in their coffin)
Not to mention when Asgore, upon finishing his speech tells you that you have the same feeling of hope in your eyes as the human who fell down long ago, hinting Chara.

But what speech by Asgore do you mean? And if he says Chara had the same feeling of hope, what could he mean? Hope to live on the surface one day?

If you kill Flowey in neutral (in hopes to truly spare Asgore without his interruption) after fighting Asgore again and soaring him, he will continue his speech. Asgore tells Frisk they remind him of the human who fell down long ago and that they have the same feeling of hooe in their eyes. He then speaks of the prophecy and kills hinself, so you may leave the Underground.
I think it's about the plan to break the barrier. Since all the monsters especially Asgore saw Chara as their new hope and the future of humans and monsters.
Perhaps in a similar way, Frisk is hopeful to be able to free them.
