I got inspired to draw this from playing Dream Drop Distance the other night as well as watched The Hunchback of Notre Dame. I think both Riku and Esmeralda had an understanding in DDD because of the similarities of the things they've gone through, same with him and Quasimodo, but I felt like drawing Riku with Esmeralda rather than Quasi. No, this is not a pairing thing. Esmeralda is just talking (or singing) to him to comfort him. That's all it is. Letting him know she understands, things like that. So yeah. Sorry I haven't done much lately. I have a new job so I've been super busy with that and working my horse when I get the opportunity to. I hope you guys enjoy this drawing nonetheless. I really need to work on drawing Riku's profile. I feel like I just can't get it down very well lol. Thanks in advance for any comments and/or faves!

I could actually see this happening. Riku being upset about something, Esmeralda finding him like that, and singing to him to try and comfort him. I kind of wish that had happened in the game. Still these two would be great friends considering everything that's happened to them both.

Actually, in the movie she is 20-21 years old. So, even when this is Riku when he's 15 years old, it's still only 5-6 years difference. Though you're right, Esmeralda does have Phoebus. And I ship that pairing so much...

Even though I don't have DDD (since I already know what'll happen by watching the Japanese and some English walkthroughs + I can't find this game ANYWHERE) I was happy to see the Hunchback of Notre Dame have a world, especially with beautiful characters like Esmeralda. If Square had more time or money, I would have loved for them to expand the relationships of Sora and Riku with Esmeralda.

I think Riku had more of a connection with Esmeralda and Quasi than what Sora did personally. He did nicely in the world in his side of the story, but Riku's just fit better and was more in depth and touching.
Also, my Target is selling this game for $30 lol. Check your local Target, and if you want to, get online and check ebay or amazon. Game Stop too. It's out there. Trust me on that one.

While I haven't played DDD, I do know it takes place in the setting of Hunchback and I found this piece, like your others, to be so utterly sweet. So cute!

Ah, it's so beautiful! I really need to watch 3D at some point, but I'm trying to do everything in chronological order and I'm on II whenever I have time to actually watch it with my family, so that'll be a while. But this really is such a beautiful picture, and I love it! Their expressions are lovely and the whole mood clearly shines through.
