This is my first time doing a real, full-fledged drawing of Riku from the Kingdom Hearts game series!
So, I watched 358/2 Days (since I don't have the console to play the game) and wow. Just wow. There was a scene between Riku and Xion that resonated heavily with me. It was when they actually met on Destiny Islands after Riku saved her. He explained to her that Sora can't wake up without having all of his memories, which are scattered about in her. The dialogue was as follows:

Riku: When his memories were scattered, some of them found their way inside you. Now, Sora has been put to sleep so that we can piece together his memory. Except...

Xion: You can't, because part of it is inside of me. That means... he can't wake up.

Riku: Yeah. You got it. But, if you go with me to Sora right now, we could give the memories inside you back to him.

Xion: So, do you hate me for taking your friend away from you?

Riku: Nah. I guess...I'm just sad.

Xion: I'm sorry, but...I can't go with you. It's my friends--they need me. And I need them, too.

(Riku places a hand on her shoulder)

Riku: Maybe...you should take some time and think about it. Figure out who really needs you more. And where you belong.

Riku's sad. It's the first time you see him somewhat vulnerable, and of course he's sad! Why wouldn't he be? He let himself get taken over by darkness, he's been separated from his friends for a long time and he's lonely. All he wants is Sora to wake up and so they can go back to Kairi and go on being best friends again. So, I thought of Riku sitting there alone on the island, unable to look out at the ocean and sunset he once sat on that tree with his two best friends with and watched it. Not like he can take his blindfold off because if he does, the darkness comes out and consumes his true form, making him look like Ansem (Xehanort's heartless) which isn't what Riku wants. I wish they'd delved more into this character and his emotions and how the darkness and his remorse has impacted him. So yeah, here you have it. A nostalgic, sad Riku. I hope you guys enjoy it!
