Description how i made my loki wig, this was done between me and my mum,she helped cut and layer it ,theres about 4 -5 layers .the hair had curls in it anyway which helped styling, after each cut it was set in rollers with hairspray, then i left it overnight, took the rollors out, thin i put the hair into spikes just by using the bed head stuff on the very tip of each spike ,there are lots of spikes but alot have fallen into the hair, but i guess when i move they will all flair out ,i then used more of the bed hair stuff over the top of the hair pulling the top as far back as i can,it also makes it look greasy like lokis hair, for extra hold i covered it all in a light dusting of hairspray

i dont own loki or marvel

hey! sorry my reply is late for the wig i used a lace front wig from ebay, this once came pre styled with the spikes, but you can put spikes in a wig with large curling rolls and lots of hairspray or if your wig is heat resistant then you can use a hair dryer on it while the curlers are in and attempt to heat set them in place.
for the costume id recommend using leather needles for your hand sewing and in the machine as normal needles just break , a timble is also very usefull when hand sewing as faux leather can be a pain to sew. if theres anything your unsure of always make a mock up, saves you alot of time when making the real thing!Β

My god, your wig looks gorgeous ! I think it's the best wig I ever seen for Loki ! Seriously all the cosplayer use a random wig with this horrible border of hair (which we can find on every wig, in fact). And for this character I think the wig is a really huge part of the cosplay's success. So, yeah, really great job you did here !
Can I ask you how do you process to hide the.... the... arg, this thing, who makes the implantation looks this fabulous ? You know, the border which is on your forehead ? I don't know if you get it, I'm french it's really hard to explain what I mean... Anyway, how do you hide it, once it's on your head ?

thank you , well to make the hairline look realistic, is that the bit you mean? i bought a lace front wig, they are diffrent from normal wigs, instead of having that elastic band at the front normal wigs have, there is a chunk of lace with hair tied into it ,it gives you a fantastic hairline,i also put on a black wig cap too, and so it does not slip, i glue the wig to my forehead, hope this helps

Oui justement, I mean, when you have your wig on your head, we can't see at all this chunk of lace ?

sasukeharber In reply to Scarxd [2012-11-25 19:10:38 +0000 UTC]

well the lace can be seen slightly on the edge,i bought a new wig now which is much better than this one

I looked at several pictures of your Loki cosplay and I didn't see the lace Oo (maybe you edited it, i dunno) I hope you will soon add pictures of your new wig :3
Well thank you so much for you advices ! (I bought my front lace wig, for my Amora cosplay a couple of days ago~) That's really kind !

the pics that are on here that say they are from memorabilia either in the description or in the title are with my new wig ,theres no editing on those piccys
my old wig you could see the lace,it was too short and wasnt spiky enough, the one in the memorabila pics is perfect and best thing is,it came already styled all spiked and layered ,all i had to do was cut chunks out of it so match lokis hairline XD .
no problem,im glad that i helped any time

Thats really great to know !! I have been looking for good wig version as reference. Everyone I know uses their hair and I just can't do that. I would be to scared to dye my hair black since it has always been blonde. This really helps though as reference.

D-AMJ-C [2012-09-25 20:52:31 +0000 UTC]

How you have styled this wig is truly gorgeous! You have much talent! Now, I wonder, do you have to wash the wig after using the hairspray? I know hairspray breaks down after a while and becomes sticky and flaky at the same time (or in other words, gross). Is there another product that can achieve the same look but on a permanent level?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 2

sasukeharber In reply to D-AMJ-C [2012-09-26 19:46:11 +0000 UTC]

thank you well the hairspray i used on this wig ,i use on my normal hair everyday, ive never had an problem with it, i used the same spray on a wig i styled in december,i jsut went up to check on it,it isnt sticky or flaky, its slightly dusty since i havent used it since december XD ,but doesnt seem to be any issues wig that wig,so hopefully this wig will be the same,i still have more work to do on this wig,i want to change the hairline a bit to make it more like lokis

baka-imouto In reply to D-AMJ-C [2012-09-26 00:32:51 +0000 UTC]

I've heard of others using spray adhesive (Like from craft stores and hardware stores) to permanently hold a style.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

D-AMJ-C In reply to baka-imouto [2012-09-26 06:56:49 +0000 UTC]

Yikes! Would that work?! I find spray adhesive terribly gummy. But you know what? It's been many years since I've used the stuff so what do I know, right? Ha ha ha ha! Oh well. If it's a good wig (& it looks like one) then washing & re-setting won't be a big deal. Good luck!

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

baka-imouto In reply to D-AMJ-C [2012-09-26 08:25:42 +0000 UTC]

I guess it might depend on the wig's material and the type of adhesive used... Maybe there's a magical combination that works really well without being gummy...
