Description This is just a simple image viewer that I made in Visual Basic. I began to hate having to open either photoshop or some other imaging program just to view my images and I didn't want to go scavenging around the web for programs that say they can do it all. Because of this, I made the simplest one possible. You click inside the window to open an image, even if an image is already loaded. Images will scale to fit the window, but will keep their width to height ratio, so images won't look all distorted. Use it however you want.

Very nice little program. I was looking for something that had no text or menu bar, this is perfect!

Great work ! Windows really needs a smaller and easier viewer !!
The only thing that miss to me is to make it a default viewer. Because I can choose it as my default viewer of course but you know, if you click an image the viewer open but without the picture inside.

I think you already know it and other things that missed so I won't speak about them.

Do you plan on update it ?

I plan on updating it if I can, although I'm not sure how to fix that problem.

I'm not quite sure, I'm actually working on making it do that, but I have yet to find an in-depth tutorial that will. Maybe later on today I will be able to make it more functional.

Looks sweat, but how excatly do I install this program?
I downloaded the file, I opened the folder, and I were able to use the program, but I tried to run the intall.bat, but then all the files inside the folder disappeared, and I couldn't find any new installed folders on my hard drive... So I just wonder if this is how you install, or if it is a kind of error?
+ If you feel like adding one simple action to the viewer, just add "Fit" on f. ex. rightclick inside window. An idea, I happen to bore myself by making an image fit perfectly to the window.

When you ran the install .bat, it created folders in your start menu and in C:\Program Files. You should be able to run it from your start menu under "Image Viewer".

No Image Viewer application on the startmenu, or any folder in my C: referring to Image Viewer...
I use Windows 7 Ulitmate 32-bit, and I have patched the ExplorerFrame.dll or whatever the name of the file was, if this info could help you analyse the problem.

Are you sure it's not in C:\Program Files\Image Viewer?
Also, there should be a start menu folder called Image Viewer.
If you can't find it, try re-extracting the downloaded .zip file (to make sure all the files are there) and running the install.bat as administrator.

Re-extracted, ran the .bat as admin, no different outcome.
But I just wonder; Inside the main zip, there is a folder named Install Files, and inside that folder there is a shortcut, uninstaller, and a folder named Image Viewer... And inside the Image Viewer folder its an application named Image Viewer, and when I access it it seem to run normally, imorting images etc like described. Is this it? Didn't I really have to actually install it?

Satukoro In reply to Obdemnium [2010-02-21 15:22:50 +0000 UTC]

Well you didn't really have to install it, but I gave the install.bat in order to have easy and organized access to it. You can open the install.bat in notepad or something and look at the code to see if it looks correct.

Obdemnium In reply to Satukoro [2010-02-21 16:35:31 +0000 UTC]

Sure, sure. I don't think it's necessary for me to have the viewer installed on my C:, I can use and that's fine to me. But as for me, the installer didn't work properly, I mean, it kinda uninstalled, it deleted all the files in the folder, so I think that's something to try to fix and update.
Also, as I said in last post, a "Fit"-action on rightclick would be greatly helpful.

Satukoro In reply to Obdemnium [2010-02-21 16:52:04 +0000 UTC]

Right, what exactly do you mean by "fit"? Do you mean having the window snap to the image?

I have the same problem than Obdemnium... I run it now directly in the extracted folder
(Win 7 Starter...)

Obdemnium In reply to Satukoro [2010-02-21 22:14:47 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, correct. So the windowborders shrink and fits the image. I don't know how hard it would be to add that action, but it would be helpful, and ofc very easy. I can't think of any other actions atm, but that is good, because it's confusing to have as many actions as on ArtSee (isnaly many options and action, and nobody know wtf they do).
Well, my opinion is just what I'd prefer, you don't have to fulfill my wish.

Satukoro In reply to Obdemnium [2010-02-21 22:20:29 +0000 UTC]

Right, that's what I'm trying to make, but I'm not quite sure how. Would you still want it to be able to re-size or just always fit to image?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Obdemnium In reply to Satukoro [2010-02-21 22:26:58 +0000 UTC]

You know the image scale itself as you drag the window, and if you then let it off and there's blank borders on the sides, rightlick inside the windows, and this little tab that says "Fit", and then the windowborders on the sides shrink to the current res on the image. So yes, still keep the re-size enabled, but also enable Fit.

That's going to be tough, so it may take a while, but nevertheless I'll be trying to improve my program.

Obdemnium In reply to Satukoro [2010-02-21 22:35:59 +0000 UTC]

Ok, I'm not gonna rush you. And about improvements, be selective, you gotta remember the goal is to keep it as effective and simple as possible, so you should filter down to some good actions that might be useful along with easy-to-understand and use. I'm alright with the program as it is now, so I don't think you have to take any suggestion randoms give.
