UPDATE: YES, I've played the game since its release. I KNOW they're all Echidnas and blah, blah blah...

Previously:
Ever since they started releasing information about the new Sonic RPG game, Sonic Chronicles: The Dark Brotherhood, that is being developed for the Nintendo DS, I found myself inspired to draw up a new character loosly based on what I saw.

The character "Shade" really caught my attention. She was weird and unique as far as new Sonic characters go. I know most people are skepticle about new characters and all, but she actually made me start thinking...and sketching!

This little guy is based on her general and basic design, only everything about him is reversed. He is supposed to be of the same race as Shade...whatever she is. XD
He's not very "glowy" like Shade. I drew his "Head Gear" pointed up instead of down, just to emeulate his opposition to Shade's design. Looks like devilish horns, heh! And he's fully decked out with sharp edges, spikes, points and is equipped with a nasty little dagger and blade spinner.
Thus I named him "Blade".
Its also sort of a play off the name "Shade". Kinda korney, I know, but hey, it works for me.
Also, the "Gauntlets" he wears each hold a hidden spike that shoots out on command and can detach from the gauntlets when needed to be discarded.
I also gave him a different symbol on his head. I dunno if the race will host different symbols, or if they all have the same one. Since Shade in the only example I have to work with, I wanted to make Blade as unique to my own design to keep him detached from Sega's and Bioware's designs for the RPG.
If the symbol ends up being the same, then that's cool too. At least Blade is mine.

Personality wise, Blade is a hunter for sport. He simply enjoys the thrill of the hunt and the glory of claiming his "Prey". He's like a mini "Predator" for the Sonic the Hedgehog series! Yeah, there si something seriously wrong with me to create such a critter. XD
He can be very sadistic in his hunting methods and hosts a very cruel nature. He prides himself on his hunting and tracking skills and he never gives up on a hunt until he has what he wants or he makes his "kill".
He is also a hunter for hire, to anyone who can afford his fee. However, he does not play into the "Dead or Alive" game. Its pretty much "Dead or...Dead".
Remember...if you hire this guy to hunt for you...he's getting something out of it!

I also created Blade to play the role of the main bad guy in a Sonic RPG fan fic (Maybe comic) I'm developing. Yeah, I know its kinda stupid for me to be doing that right now since any solid info for the game has yet to be released...much less the game itself. But what can I say? I've been inspired. I'll probably hold off on the majority of the development of the story until I get more real info on it...but at least I've got something in the works.
