Nice picture! I was wondering if I maybe could use this pic to draw my own horse in photoshop? And maybe use my drawing to Howrse.com?

Relating to the below comments, have you noticed how incredibly healthy rodeo animals look? You will get instances of anything anywhere, but generally the upkeep of these animals is top notch. I wouldn't dis rodeos, i'd focus that negative energy of convicted animal neglecters and abusers!

I totally agree... why would they treat these animals badly when they are their INCOME? Their LIVELIHOOD? They don't want to see any of them mistreated or hurt.

it's a nice picture, very pretty and you captured the horse in an incredible strong pose, but i'm not a fan of rodeo, one of the reasons is the rider is using (i don't know what it is named in english.. but it is the pointy thing in the back of his foot.. in my country it's called spore..) and i think that you shall not use the thing (spore or what ever it is) if your not a very expirient (another lack in my english word book .___. but it is when a rider often ride in a suit and is doing diffrent exresises on a court and they get a program they follow and a score and stuff.. the dictonary called it taming but i'm not shure if it is the rioght word .__.) and they're driving the horse in to a rage and the horses are living creaturse and i don't think they like it (cus they're trowing the rider of ..) i know that most of the horses are well cared of, but the horse is made to run across hills and be free.. of course we're riding them, but they (at least the horse i'm riding) likes it.. or he likes it better than trying to trow of a rider.. but i mostly ride trips and give him carrots..
but my point is that i'm not fond of rodeo because i don't think the horses like it.. it may sound like a stupid reason cus they're "just" animals, but i think that they got the right to a nice life and i'm not fond of spores or a whip if they're badly used.. a tool can be used to cause harm or erh.. i guess i can say "love" i don't know.. but i'm losing my trail again, sorry.. but i just don't like rodeo..

Sorry you feel that way, but these animals are treated with the upmost respect. The spur* has a rowel the rotates, therefore does not injure the animal. And most of the horses you see photographed do enjoy the sport (which only lasts 8 seconds), and look at their ears, they are up.
I think if you became more educated in the sport, your opinion would differ.

yeah, maby, but as in all sports with horses there is always one that's not having a good time. like when they're jumping fences, som horses get hit on the hoves (u know.. their feets .__.) so it hurts i they hit the fence.. thats a bad thing : <
but anyway comparing rodeo to other sports, like killing bulls for fun (wich i see as a crime.. i can't realise that it's alowed..) rodeo is much better. as long as the horses (or other animals) are well cared of i'm happy c:

Yep, the rodeos I go to, the horses are treated really well. If not, there are huge fines waiting for the people responsible.

yey, i like that, the school i go to trow out anyone that does not follow the rules, like we're not allowed to jump fences cus no pro. person is there, and a lot of ppl like it, even if they're beginners.. but we're supposed to go out so the horses get some fresh air ^^ some og the ppl got trowed out lately, but they drove the horse so hard, so i'm just happy they're gone..

Is it ok if I use this image for a reference for an assignment? I wanted to use this to draw the horse skeleton and muscles in this pose.
I felt like this pose was just perfect!

Really awesome shot!
I have a question though; would you allow me to use this image as a pose reference? I tried looking up your policy on it, but couldn't find it....

I love how athletic a lot of these pictures look.
Most of the horses here [in your rodeo gallery] seem taken well cared for...
Still.
Seems weird, that for our entertainment.
We take something an animal may do naturally-
And make it do it in an un-natural situation.

Technically, this is not a very unnatural situation.
Rodeo stems from the ol western days of breaking horses. This is just about the same thing, except the fact there are flank straps on the horses, which infact, yes, the flank strap does irritate the horse, but it doesn't cause the horse to buck (if you go to a rodeo, most of the time they typically do stop bucking once the rider is gone. The ones that keep going are usually the youngins that are new) The flank strap is meant to draw the horse's (or bull's) energy toward their hindquarters rather than letting them focus their energy on the shoulders and front end where the cowboy's weight is at. When their bucking energy is emerging from the hindquarters it creates a more rhythmic bucking motion. The horse is less likely to keep its shoulders higher the majority of the time. It reduces incidences such as a horse flipping over backwards. Its safer for both the rider and horse.
And of course these animals are well taken care of. This is the stock contractors livelihood. You cant expect an animal in poor condition to perform at his top performance.
I'm just trying to help you understand the sport of rodeo, as it seems you dont know a lot about it, but seem to be more understanding about it than most, and doesnt automatically bash it right away.
And if you think about it, any equine event [even just rink-a-dink backyard riding] is our entertainment. Horses jump naturally, but do they really jump a 5' course about 12 times 'naturally'? I dont think so.
