Milton Freewater college rodeo a weekend ago.... Flint gets super duper nervous when we are in the box about to rope and he has a tendency of popping up.. well he went up twice that day, and I think this was his second rear, when he practically walked out of the box (breaking the barrier) on his hind legs. Theres really not too much I can do about it... sometimes if I have someone in the box with me he relaxes a bit, but its hard to teach an old dog new tricks... he is pretty set into his own ways. But other than the negativity of him rearing, it is still a good photo, very hi-ho silver. I had a hard time staying with him the 2nd time, wasnt expecting it much....Related content

Maybe the ole boy needs a new job that can't be safe? My old mare was a barrel horse and she would pop up on her toes when she was excited but not to that extent. She'd just pace in place with her front end, and the longer I made her stay there the less she would do it.
That would have scared the crap out of me even back when I was younger and braver.

Thing is he loves doing this and he is really good at tracking calves. He just gets super nervous when we are at big competitions like this...
He is getting better (hard to say that with this photo..lol) because he use to rear up at the gate before barrels, but we have been working on that and now we can safely (and calmly) walk through the gate without that nonsense. It just takes time...

Wow! That's a very exciting looking photo. Must be a rush to have been sitting on the saddle while he's doing that. ^_^; Though that may just be the novice in me talking...
