Wow. Great shot. Love the rhythm of the wood supports, rising and falling. Really beautiful.

Looks like some of the places I hung out at when I was a kid in upstate New York on some of the old Erie Lackawana lines

wow...nasty weather in that area or just old old lines? my dad has dragged me and my family all over the country to see some very neat places.......some of the best were actually in the mountians in cali........not to mention the intersting bits in chicago and new york (the prostitutes/flasher/watch thief....)

Just loads of old abandoned lines. We get out to Scranton "Steamtown" Pennsylvania a couple times a year to visit family friends. Great photo ops for the rail fan there if you're ever out East.

I like how you've been doing monochrome lately. I like this shot because of the depth of field. ... makes it look like a very old photo. Keep up the good work. Wish I had the time for this sort of thing.
I was a shutterbug in my earlier days - even had my own darkroom (b/w).

lol..well..technically? these flood pic's WERE taken a long time ago.......these are from my b/w film days in college.......i've dug out the neg's...had them scanned onto a cd...and went from there.
the neg's i have left from college are in such horrible condition!

... well I didn't mean a decade-or-so ago, I meant, like, late 1800-early 1900s. Goodness, woman, you're not THAT old! ()

I remember that well. I had spent the summer in Fort Laramie, Wyoming as a Student Conservation Association volunteer at Fort Laramie National Historic Site. Drove down the Missouri River valley from Omaha, NE to Kansas City, MO, then across Missouri to St. Louis on the way back. There was water everywhere along the entire route.

i was working in St.Louis at the time at a camp...we were called to sand bag at the arch....the water still came up to the foot of it.....amazing! when i had to drive home...it was like driving thru rice paddies the whole way...i could see coffins and everything floating down. i kept yelling at my dad who was driving to stop so i could rescue turtles.....after about the 400,000,000th one or so he finally said enuf.

I think my Dad has photos of a Union Pacific train in western Iowa surrounded by water from the Missouri.
